09 sedan vs Bama tuned 13' stang

Was leaving my neighborhood yesterday and my neighbor was tailgating me out. I knew he wanted to run lol. I dont know exactly what is done to his car but one thing was clear, when I asked if he had anything done, he smiled and said oooohhhh yeah.

His tires looked like your standard sport tires nothing super sticky or wide. I confirmed he had a Bama tune and Id guess some sort of exhaust setup with an intake, it was noisy.

Anyways he followed me out onto a road behind our homes which goes uphill, I heard him rip it and knew he was going for the flyby. I floored it and spun alittle in 2nd gear before getting full traction. I looked in my left mirror and see that he made it to my rear quarter panel. I did the unthinkable and no lift shifted into 3rd gear. Ive always been cautious about doing that on the tune before but I needed this!
At the top of third and 3/4 of the way of the hill I see his nose is still behind mine. It was clear he was slowly reeling me in and that he would accomplish that in 4th and 5th gear should it have kept going. I shut down a the top of the hill to avoid a Dukes of hazards moment but he seemed like he wanted to do that lol. He flew by. He slowed down and he chatted at the bottom of the hill slowly crawling up to the light.

He said "That thing can move!". I wish I could clearly state I pulled his 5.0 but they are indeed quick little ponies!

I'm not sure if I should have been able to pull away or not. I looked online and bolted tuned 5.0s are between 395-415 whp. Anyone have any similar experiences? One things for sure... I'm pulling away from a stock 5.0 haha

Good kill! Wish I could say the same but I had an old like 07 5.0 down shift next to me on the highway. Unfortunately I don't have anything to back up my loud exhaust and high rise lol im just fully bolted lsj. This gives me motivation!

We did line up at the light bill but we weren't paying attention when it turned green . we were talking. He noticed it and bolted before I had it in first.

93 OCT or E?

Im on a 26psi tune now in my HHR and theres a dude with a fully bolted 2013 5.0 that I can never catch in his car, we go to car meets sometimes and he always brings his daily and literally will not take me seriously enough to go home and get his car. He says hes like 425-450whp and runs 11's. It also has MONSTER drag tires and skinnies up front (id go from a roll obviously)

He has a supercharger setup ready to install this winter so I want to get a run in before hes up in the 550-600whp range.

Im on 93 octane, I dont know if hes using E. He did tell me he also has plans to get boosted soon. I looked at his tires after the race and saw they were just what ever came on the car nothing that said "I track my car". From a dig, I know theres no hope, he was like a bat out of hell and even after I gunned it, I ended up redlining 1st gear cause I couldnt hear my car over his lol. He was like a good 2 bus lengths ahead by the time I hit the top of first and the fact that he got the hit. Not even the stickiest of tires on a stock turbo balt will keep up with a tuned 5.0 on all seasons lol.

My impression is a fully bolted tuned stang runs about 400 whp. maybe a hair more. from factory, they are around 360-365whp. I can take a stock 5.0, that much is clear after this run.

I was so mad, the local mustang crew came out a few weeks back and I had 300 miles on my new transmission and GMPP clutch and 3 mustangs were headed down the highway I was, all 3 tried to play, 2 5.0's a 04 Cobra..... That would've been a blast, but I didn't want to rip gears on my car with that few miles on the drivetrain.

Nice! A modded lnf cobalt will take a stock 5.0 from a roll any day. From a dig well rwd>fwd lol. Also those bama tunes are pretty spot on even tho most people disagree, even on e85.

Good run, I love surprising mustang guys.
I ran a 11+ 5.0 from a roll in my gms1 lnf. I pulled him to my rear quarter and held him there. I'm pretty sure it was mostly stock tho.

Couldn't have been a 5L then. I raced a 540 M sport 2001 with bolt ons and tune, 240 or 260hp stock plus the mods maybe 300 crank, 6 speed. I pulled him by a couple cars on GMS1 but was not walking away by any means. Then throw a 425hp mustang into the mix.. GMS1 No way pulled a 5.0, probably was 2010- 4.6

a GMS1 balt is no slouch either but yes there are alot of factors that play into this outcome.. automatics don't always work the way you want them to when you want them to
