Arrow ***NEW INFO FROM GM***BG Wheels and RPD Display (Cobalt SS/TC)

Here's the email I recived today...

rallyracer,
Thanks for the follow up. In response to your question, here is some info to share with the masses.

The RPD is approved and is listed in the 2009 Cobalt SS and HHR SS dealer preview information. It is available for order as regular production option UAF for the Cobalt Coupe SS and all HHR SSs. We do not have any information on the wheels at this time, but we are still working on them.

Stay tuned on the wheels. We also have some enhancements in the works for the interface on the sound system... Stay in "tune" with your local dealer.

I hope the Cobalt Enthusiasts are starting to see the Turbo's in the dealerships this month. I just returned from HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour (Seven cities in seven days) and got some serious seat time in the SS Turbo... What a blast. It was great to drive and held it's own against some of the V8 beef that we brought along.

Best Regards,

R.R.

Will the display be an aftermarket option?

I was looking through the ordering guide and I noticed that the RPD is only going to be available in the SS/T Coupe, not the sedan.

I didn't see any info on that. I wonder if you could just order it by part number and install it...

Well I read the thread that Rally linked for the RPD and it said it would cost over $500 to buy it for the SS/SC, so Im assuming there is atleast a thought of being able to have it for the SS/SC

Well if it plugs into the obd2 port like it sounds like its going to...then it would probably work with all cobalts. at least partially compatable anyways

its not using the OBD2 ports, its using a few GMLAN connections (which still may be part of the OBD2 system, but its not coming off the port itself)

The rpd is going to be $295 usd.

The bg wheels were a test thing so it's a good chance they won't make it to production.

Also, they are trying to make a cost effective upgrade for the sc but that will also be something for later.

Word has not come back on the black wheels yet, usually that means it didnt make the cut...

If I were you I'd just order a white SS and have the wheels powder coated.
