Plenty of cobalts have beat STIs.. They are great off the line, and then..............

What year are these cars? Brand new?

Well a stang gt with intake + exhaust will be pushing 330bhp. Thats 70hp over the SS and you factor that in with the fact that RWD > FWD at the dig and it will probably never happen unless some nice mods come out for the SS.

gto 6l 6spd 06 (gods gift to earth, none beats the GTO)

wrx (easy sauce for a ss/tc)

the sti will destroy a cobalt from a dig but from a role the cobalt ss/tc is most likely quicker as a stock sti only puts 200-210 whp on a dynojet compared to 230-240 for the ss

If Chevy wanted to add another $10,000 to the Cobalt's price tag, it could compete with an STI...

I feel you have to compare cars of equal cost (or at least factor that into the comparison) in order to view its true performance value...

If the Cobalt could trap 106+ in the 1/4 it could probably take an STi from a roll.
Should take out other the non-V8s w/o much effort.
Will need some work to consistantly take out G8 GT & Stang GT.
Will need even more work to consistantly take out GTOs.

Although, a good driver in the Cobalt SS/TC would be able to take any of those cars w/ shitty drivers from a dig.

It depends on the year of Mustang GT. From 99 to 04 they ran in the low 14 second range on average, so driver would have alot to do with it. The 05 and newer GT's are mid 13 second cars and with an intake and tune should be in the low 13 second range and a few have ran high 12's. An STI is a mid to low 13 second car depending on the driver. The stock LS1 GTO's run on average a high 13, so I can see a very good driver in an SS/TC stay with an LS1 GTO. LS2, well forget about it, unless you have mods. Hahn ran a 13.2 with just exhaust and a tune, so after a few people get used to the car and add an intake and some DR's, I can see the SS/TC beating all the cars you listed.

With equal drivers he should lose to the Gto and the Sti. Even with the exhaust and tune.

The only STI's I have ever seen in the 12's are those with great drivers, average drivers run around 13.2-13.3. Now the GTO's are probably high 12 second cars with a good driver, but average around 13-13.1. Now I know they guy from Hahn who ran the 13.2 is probably a great driver, but still, I would love to see the look on an STI or GTO drivers face when an SS/TC Cobalt beats him. Giving that the driver of the STI or GTO would have to suck, but it would be funny. Oh and I'm talking about an LS2 GTO. Out of all the LS1 GTO's I've ever seen, they average high 13's stock and great drivers run around a 13.4-13.5, which the Cobalt SS/TC has already ran faster with just exhaust and a tune.

These are great times for a ls1 gto. This is stock which means no weight reduction or power adders.

1) Nutiger 13.025 @ 108.31
2) H82BSLOGTO 13.09 @ 105.00 MPH
3) ls1gto 13.10 @ 107.3 MPH
4) TRU GTO 13.136 @ 105.76 MPH
5) GTwhoa 13.15 @ 105.35 MPH
6) nutiger 13.245 @ 104.86 MPH
7) GTONEWB 13.248 105.99 MPH
8) slammin86 13.27 @ 105.46 MPH
9) nikivee 13.3 @ 104.00 MPH
10) 1meangoat 13.307 @ 104.61 MPH

It seems like the ls1's vary from car to car. Some are beasts and some are dogs. In time though the ss/tc will beat better cars then the gto and the sti. Its a good platform.

Exactly, the great times with great drivers. But the average time is a high 13, just like the Cobalt SS/TC is probably gonna be. If Hahn can run a 13.2 with just exhaust and a tune, than that means he can beat all LS1 GTO's except the 5 or 6 fastest in the world. Seems like a bargain to me. I'm not trying to argue here, but you said with equal drivers an LS1 GTO will beat an SS/TC with exhaust and tune, but it looks to me like there are only a few that would be able to beat one.

On a side note, could you post a list like that but with the LS2 GTO?

I actually was talking about the ls2 gto's. But still you have to compare equal driver here. The average for a ls1 gto from what i have seen is usually around 13.5. Not high 13's.

Here it is.

2) NYTIGER 12.920 @ 109.40 MPH
3) Boilermaker GTO 12.9299 @ 106.89 MPH
4) 05torridred60 12.971 @ 108 MPH - SAP mufflers
5) jumbojet 12.974 @ 108.08 MPH
6) BlackSheep 12.98 @ 108 MPH
7) GTOboss 13.007 @ 108.52mph
8) KYGTO 13.035 @ 108.96 MPH
9) Judgethis05 13.036 @ 108.72
10) hookmechanic 13.074 @ 106.76 MPH

Damn I actually figured if an LS1 GTO could run a 13-13.1, than an LS2 should be in the 12.6-12.7 range. If the 10th fastest LS1 GTO is running in the 13.3 range, than I dont think the average is a 13.5, 13.7, yeah possibly, but from what I've seen and heard, before this stuff you're posting they ran in the high 13's on average.

13.3 is a good time in a ls1. They start to really bunch up around 13.5 area though. It does take some time to get used to the irs because the gto is plagued with wheel hop.

There really isn't as big of a power difference like everyone thinks between the ls1 and the ls2. Between 30-40 hp. But the ls2 shines big when you add a cam.

Yeah thats true, I was gonna get an 05 GTO with 3100 miles on it, but I opted for the Cobalt SS/TC. Alittle OT, but what kind of #'s do LS2's run with a cam and exhaust?

Guy I know with a stage 2 ss/sc with 2.8pulley/intake was neck/neck with a local STi owner i think stock
I will get HATED upon all day long for this but Tiburons are much faster than u think, the 2.0L motor on the base SE model with a few supporting mods like intake/exhaust/tune keeps it right beside the 2.4L all the way down that 1/4mile(remember, your racing a bigger better developed motor VS a hyundai, and that hyundai keeps up!!! Next you are missing the 2.7L V6 and with proper mods either motor is capable of ALOT!!! Want proof? 1/4mile times posted below!

Any car can be fast with tons of money dropped into it. A base model Tibby is a high 15 to low 16 second car, the GT is a mid to low 15 second car. I went to school with a guy who had the GT model, he added full exhaust and an intake and was running 14.7 consistently. Its not a fast car with basic bolt ons, but get into F/I and anything can be fast.

true enough words could not be said, but how many ppl respect hyundai or even believe they are capable of 1/4 mile times under 14 seconds? under 12 seconds? under 11 seconds?? But they do exsist and are consistant, and to top it off, Hyundai Canada now added an NGM s/c kit to the V6 tib performance upgrades, backed with WARRENTY and can be added to any tiburon 03+ V6 only, I4 kit under development. But as always, Hyundai is still behind the ball instead of on top of it like GM and our lovely new Cobalt Turbo

I've seen the Genesis coupe in person before, was able to look at it up close. They really did a great job styling it inside and out.
