09 SS how long till new Rattles come?

I'm going to put a poll up for this. Its a new 09 SS with zero rattles as did my 2.4 at new. How long do you think till I get some rattle. Mind you I drive on upstate NY roads near Albany.

Bought it. Had a few rattles. A few more showed up after a few thousand. Took it in, and had them fixed all at once. I'm at almost 17,000 now and no new ones. I've even got some pretty bumpy roads around here too.

I had a rattle on that plastic console plate by the passenger's left calf. The put some foam under it and it went away.

I also had a "rolling plastic" sound inside my driver side door that happened only during turns sometimes. A plastic clip had come off inside the door. They reconnected it.

I had a bit of a sunroof rattle, but it pretty much went away. It rarely ever happens anymore.

Invariably you'll develop a rattle when your Cobalt rolls over the curb out of the dealer lot

I have 11,000mi and the only rattle I get is from the back seat area on the driver side which drives me nuts. Thats pretty much the only rattle, other than the sunroof, but thats typical.

Of course my steering column has been knocking too, but thats being fixed under warranty.

So I really only have one rattle that I cant find where its coming from

Id say it all has to do with your driving conditions and how you drive your car. Plus, although theyre all the same cars each have their own different quirks from assembly so Its hard to predict.

With American cars? within the first year of ownership.

Most German cars seem to stay rattle free for years.

Had my SS/TC for 9 months and 16k. Have not developed a single rattle. Had my rear pads replaced twice though and calipers once, but no rattles!

body flex is the main cause for rattles on gm cars. get some dry lube and spray down the door seals and sunroof seal( if you have one) it wont stop them but it will make it less noticable

It's always the same comment from me... If I wanted quality, I'd have bought a Honda. I wanted fast, so I'll deal with my car which was (poorly) built by the professionals in the UAW .

How is it poorly built? I haven't had a single issue with mine...

If you are complaining about the fit and finish of the interior, you need to blame the finance guys that helped make the executive decisions while designing the cobalt.

silicone sealant is what you should buy for the door seals/ weather stripping. You rub it in and it waterproofs the seals and softens them up. Works great for the sunroof will keep it rattle free for like 5 months until you need re apply the stuff. Find it at any car parts place

(im not taking regular silicone you use for the bath or sealing out water, this is a gel like substance that dosnt really dry or act like typical silicone, it says for weather stripping on it)

Rattles I get are my glove box rattles like mad over bumps... was a nasty rattle somewhere on dash near passenger side wind shield, also the leather seats rub like crazy against the height adjuster kinda annoying actually.

Have you checked the clips that cover the rear defroster connections on the window? With under 100 miles on the car I was cleaning the rear window and those clips were really loose (fell off when touched). I pushed the tabs that hold it on together and that has worked for now, they are much tighter.

oh and at under 400 miles now I have a rattle coming from the passenger side.
