12.90 e.t.

what would it take to go 12.90 E.T.'s in our cars with stock tires and a street legal
exhaust? how much would it cost? skip.

Tomtwtwtw 08-25-2009 06:11 PM

A good tune and practice. Cost - under 500.

oopsitouchedmyself 08-25-2009 06:11 PM

street legal is a vague term... pretty sure no performance exhaust we put on will be 'street legal' depending on how strict you wanna get.

wantedSS/TC 08-25-2009 06:14 PM

more than just a tune ....

Tune - thorough
Catless DP
Modded Air Box
CP

Driver MOD

cmiller8006 08-25-2009 06:16 PM

With a tune, weight reduction, the track we run at, this will be enough. Need practice tho.

wantedSS/TC 08-25-2009 06:19 PM

exhaust does little for these cars. Save the $600.

skip_jones 08-25-2009 06:20 PM

this was a loaded question. saw a guy at the dragstrip the other day
run a 12.95. talked to him and he said all he had was a catless DP, muffler delete,
short ram intake, and a trifecta tune. i was like wow. skip.

wantedSS/TC 08-25-2009 06:22 PM

Driver mod, learn how to launch. Your 60 is crucial.

Look at my sig, that'll get you into 12's. Tuning is the most critical however.

You and me were talking. I took off the short ram, was making fuel trims all messed up. I have since threw slicks on the car and am knocking on 11's. I am telling you with a good tune and practice, running at Norwalk witch is a top 10 in the world track you will be able to get 12's. I just watched a srt 4 with just over 300 wheel horse and alot of weight reduction take the world record stock turbo ET of 11.82.

orbalt08 08-25-2009 06:32 PM

I say stay away from any of the intakes at the moment. Tune, catles dp, and driver mod will get you there

wantedSS/TC 08-25-2009 06:34 PM

yeah, I don't have the intake on .... yet. We'll see how it acts

hi cmiller. what kind of slicks you running? did you get your new trifecta tune
worked out? you were having some problems that day. or was it the short ram
giving you issues? skip.

I believe it was a little of both. However we are getting there on the tune, Vince is on vacation or it would be done, but is close. Where going to add a little more boost yet and hope to trap about 114-115 even with the slicks. I have a 17 inch wheel and a 26/7-17 motorcycle slick.

skip_jones 08-25-2009 06:46 PM

motorcycle slick. crazy.

Any high speed stability problems? Are you using the stock wheels and tires in the back with the slicks?

1badBlueberrySC 08-25-2009 08:05 PM

<<< 12.95@ 116 here.... Tune, Charge Pipes, Catless D/P, and custom Intercooler. On street tires

Yes stock rears, I am not having any problems with them. There are no load ratings, or speed ratings on slicks they are all made the same. Also there are two compounds in a motorcycle slick, motorcycle compound, and a general use compound which is what I got.

I think you are Term. can be in the mid 11.80's with slicks. You guys need to get a set and go run.

Ryans09SS 08-25-2009 08:21 PM

Yeah, a good 60 foot plays a big role in getting in a good run. I'm hoping with the supporting mods I have and a good 60 I can try and crack into the 12's when I hit the track thursday. But I will be on street tires so it'll be a little tricky.

Do not use launch control. and dont shift to 4th if you have a raised rev limit. depending on how many runs you usually get at your track, and the amount of prep done, start at about 1800 rpms and slip the clutch out. if you dont spin at all, raise your rpms about 200 each pass.

Yeah, that is on my to do list... 17's with some nice MT ET Streets.... We'll see though!

Ryans09SS 08-26-2009 04:48 AM

Yeah, I've never used the launch control, I've heard it doesn't work the greatest. Cmiller, I am in the Dayton area in ohio.

raynrishad 08-26-2009 11:20 AM

At what light do you guys start to slip the clutch?
At what rate of speed do you slip the clutch?
At what point do you go WoT?

I've noticed that no matter when I go WoT with JUST my Trifecta tune I break the tires loose in 1st. Even if I don't break them loose on the launch, then go WoT, they start to break loose.
