If you have a lot of snow and ice build up inside your wheel well it can become dislodged or rub when suspension is compressed. Knock that stuff off and see if it happens again.

I once had a ton of mud/rocks stuck on the tires and ended up rubbing nasty inside all the fenders, no damage at all but it sounded so wrong

my car is lowered on H&R's and I'm running 235-40-18's and no rubbing or problems what so ever, even when I'm driving hard and turning in lock to lock.

I got myself ContiExtremeContact's this weekend, they look like they will work really well in the winter. Softer sidewall is fun for a nicer ride.

225-40 series should not be an issue.

Maybe it's your shocks... they tend to do this loud scratching noise when they're cold & you hit bumps.
Enough to freak you out at first.

It's pretty loud and it does sound as if your wheels were touching the inside of the front fender.

If it goes away after the car gets warmer and a few minutes of driving, that might be it.

How do you install wheels wrong? I don't get it.

Dude, let me know how the SP's are. I just put them on my car yesterday! I've read a ton of good reviews and they were just over $100/tire.

try not torquing the lug nut properly, just one of them, it'll elongate the stud and maybe strip it right to ****, rim could fall off.........scary things can happen in a matter of seconds.
