GM performance Cold air Intake
Has anyone put the GM performance Cold air intake on the 08's yet??? I went to GM's website and i found one for like 277.00 but didn't know if it was going to effect my gas milage which im getting 27 in the city and 33 on the hight or maybe improve it idk. But i was hoping to get the car up to 270 maybe with the cold air intake to. But does anyone know if it voids the warranty on the motor if you put the Gm performance cold air intake on vs puting on a K&N which i heard if you put that on it voids the warranty on the motor. Let me know wat you all think!!!

You have the LSJ then, the LNF is the turbocharged engine and the LSJ is the supercharged

A air intake with not void your warranty a and yes gm has a cold air intake about to be released with the gm stage 1 kit and the air intake should give you better gas mileage.
#87
stage 1 is 290hp and 330tq you should get maybe a one or two more mpg.The stage 1 is just a couple of sensors and a reflash at the dealership and it is going to come with a intake and stage 1 is under warranty
#89
how much it cost you thinnk? and you have it on yours and do you think i could DIY or dealer install? where could i get it at?
nate
i have done some research on the cold air just needed some other input from other ppl to see wat they were doing with there cars

No its not released yet it should be out very soon. Just keep an eye on www.crateenginedepot.com they will have it very soon i think it will be about $600.The only you have do bring it to the dealer for is a reflash.
This is what the kit we be like but the cobalt stage 1 kit will have a intake so it will cost more.

There is no cold air intake for the HHR and Solstice-sky. It only comes on the Cobalt ss stage 1 kit, but yes the sensors are going to be the same.

I think it is well worth the money, you get a tune which adds a big punch in hp and tq, while you get to keep your warranty. But remember it is 600 for the kit plus labor for a gm dealer to install it!!! if you install yourself which you could only do the intake and sensors, cause the program has to be installed via the TECH 2 or MID module through TIS2WEB, but once again if you install yourself you will void the warranty

one of my freinds is a tech and he will do the tech stuff for me for real cheap of wat it would cost to take it to a dealer he is a GM certified tech so i don't think it will hurt anything

Hey y'all, first post. I know I was supposed to introduce myself somewhere else but this is the thread that caught my attention. I read every post and I want to thank everyone for sharing info and being such enthusiastic SS owners...I didn't read one post from a d*** head...lol!
I bought a 2009 SS in black. I had driven the EVO and was impressed, but as others said the mileage stinks with the EVO and the extra vrooooom doesn't = $12,000 - 15,000 more. I'm HAPPY with my purchase, I'm having a BLAST! I was stationed in Germany a while back and had a M3. Although I won't make any lateral comparisons the FUN part is the same with the SS!
I had a 'FLOWMASTER' exhaust installed yesterday. The power increase is not neck-snapping, but it is noticeable. I'd love to have it dyno'ed! No cold air intake is available (unless someone knows better -- please tell me, thanks!) I put in a K&N drop in filter with little to no difference.
Guys, the flowmaster muffler and custom exhaust (cat-back) sounds very 'throaty' and AMERICAN, and like I said earlier there is a power increase across the spectrum. Here's the biggy...I can see an incredible gas mileage increase even when I'm driving it like a raped ape. I expect upwards of 5 MPG average increase and MORE after break-in.
Sorry for the LONG post.
Nice to be here among other SS owners!

WARNING TO SS/TC OWNERS. my 08 SRTC balt is now in the shop. after taking it in for service lasst week i just noticed yeseterday a slight idle problem... after going through the car was i opened the hood to wiper the engine off. a steel braided hose was dangling upward. this line proved to be the OIL FLOW LINE to the TURBO.i got a pic and ill post it a bit later.. but keep an eye on how you drive. cause it just... snapped... and you wont hear it either... this will cause oil to leak all over and inevitably lock your engine.. im lucky i caught it when i did..
