Thanks again-with that build date maybe I've got one of the earliest produced? During my search I found virtually all the '08 TC's online under 20K or so were from the wind damaged crop. They were scattered around dealerships primarily in the upper midwest-I guess they had prior notice of the auction(s)?
Also most of the salesman weren't exactly forthcoming(or knowledgeable) of the vehicle history and the fact they were sans paint/body warranty-I had to ask specific warranty related questions.

The earliest coupe i have seen was built 02-12-08 but that was a test car . I don't know how everyone wants to break it down but....... I've seen test car, then pre-production , then regular production . Test car and pre production show up on the build sheet.

One more dumb question for the statistics wizards.

How many, if any at all, SS/TC's were used for crash testing? I assume none since they'd kinda fall under similarity to a normal Cobalt. Then again I'm not savvy to how the government views that stuff.

Thats a great question. I have no idea if they need to crash an SS or if a base is sufficient for the testing. Like with corvette's .....do they have to crash a Z06 or ZR1? That would make me cry.

This was back in 1990 when the test was done, but on the MR2 forum someone posted the PDF's of the crash test report for the 91-95 MR2. They crashed a 1991 NA and a 1991 Turbo. Both cars had VIN's and neither were low #'s or anything.... just random cars.

EDIT: Don't ever crash in an MR2 btw. After reading those PDF's the outlooks not so good

How is this one a Pre-Production unit (finished on 5/5/08) and mine was finished on 5/1/08 and it is not a pre-production model?

Wouldn't all the Pre-Production units be complete, prior to actual building? LOL

My sport red tint coat must be one of the first actual production units?

Anyone have a SRTC Coupe, built before 5-1-2008???

How do you know it is preproduction? Are you looking at the "XX" in the VIN? In that case, I don't think that means preproduction...mine has it and it isn't a preproduction unit (to the best of my knowledge).

On it was stated on this thread that "XX" meant pre production, as all the "XX" were early made models in that year? It made sense until now, when mine was made before a "XX" cobalt?

I don't think anyone knows what it means. I think my build date is 4/23/08 and it has the XX. I'm sure it has a meaning...it just isn't known at this point.

I'm not sure if XX means pre production or not. I've done one XX vin that happened to be a preproduction car . It seemed to be a weird VIN on a preproduction car is all. The only real way to know if it's a PRE-production car is if it has a OAR code on the build sheet.

^^^ Thanks for trying... I really appreciate it....

Aaron, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that you have the first SRTM 08 SSTC off the line... And unless someone else's SRTM build date is before 5/14/08, then it looks like I have the second one off the line....
