2010 Cobalt SS production numbers?
there are still a rare amount of cobalt ss cars. the 4 door sedan SS cobalts are very rare because they made a very limited number of those. i mean i have an 09 summit white cobalt ss they made i think 118 of them in 2009. thats pretty rare esp if you are talking about a cobalt. i know i enjoy telling people when they say i never knew they made a white turbo cobalt and then i tell them how rare they are and then say did you know they also made a 4 door SS with the same motor and their jaws drop lol.
2010 USA build cars had one option;
They came standard with a non-LSD transmission.
2010 Canadian cars (option code: Z49) came with zero optional factory items; LSD equipped transmissions were a part of the 'base' package.
by the end of the 2009 model year:
- 'high rise' rear spoiler option was deleted (required only 'low rise' n/c spoiler to be installed)
- grey/black & red/black two toned interior options were deleted (required black interior to be ordered)
- non-USB radio deleted (required optional usb radio be purchased)
At the onset of the 2010 model year the following items which were all previously cost options were standard equipment for ALL Cobalt SS's;
- RPD
- USB radio
- sunroof
For me, rarity is fun - it's knowing that I am unique.
It just happens to be that the car I chose, in the only acceptable to me available paint colour, was in fact one of the rarest - only eclipsed by white... as far as I can tell.
(I don't think that the GMTS numbers were for the complete 2009 model year - either that, or they didn't include Z49 cars, because I came across info supporting 203 white coupes, and 244 yellow coupes - vs the GMTS 118 white & 120 yellow numbers)
IIRC when I looked into it, my car was one of four(?) as built.
also, I am suspecting that most of the 2010 model year Cobalt SS's were shipped to Canada - as we seemed to weather the economic downturn better on a whole than our brothers south of the 49th.
samething with a mustang..... i mean rousch. yeah they might be worth more money but you are excited to have a "rare" car so why do you have to make fun of guys on here who cant afford that kind of stuff so they are happy to have say a yellow or white 4 door sedan that not even 100 were made? more rare then that rousch of yours thats for sure lol

More rare? Mine is 1 of 13. Made to spec.
You cant compare a car you get at any dealer, to ones you have to be authorized to sell.
Like i said, my 2 cents. Tis all. I understand you want to set your car apart and all....but sometimes...it don't make any sense...to me that is
because you pay for exclusivity.

well let us have our fun because theres a bunch of us on here who dont make enough money to afford nicer cars so were happy with having 1 of 118 white cobalt SS's made in 2009. to me thats something cool to talk about.
i know you do but we have pride just like you do and we enjoy our rare cars just like you do. its a mustang with a body kit and its boosted everyone has a mustang, i see rouschs, saleens, gt500s all over the place in PA.

by the way, its spelled roush
well you asked its the samething just like your car we have our own vin numbers to show us what number our car was across the line with all the options and stuff.
i saw that after i had posted damn man. see and this **** right here is exactly why i dont do car meets or anything anymore, because everybody always has to one up you with something and nobody can ever appreciate one anothers cars.
From my personal observations 2009 should be the high water mark as far as production numbers are concerned;
Not that I expect many people here to recall by now, but the '09 model year was slated to be the Cobalt's last - 2010's were only made because of the delay in bringing in the cruze, and to use leftover parts;
The cruze was delayed because of GM's financial troubles in the midst of the economic downturn.
The original 2008 model year GM sales/training suggested much higher model year production numbers than what actually happened - because no one saw the economic down turn coming;
Some here might recall that initially (at the end of the 2009 model year) the 2010 Cobalt was going to happen;
At that time the Cobalt SS wasn't going to happen;
Then it was announced that 2010 Cobalt SS's would be built;
Then during the whole model year there were warnings of a deadline for receiving orders for Cobalt SS production... this never actually happened.
It has long been my personal opinion that the 2010 SS production is purely derived from GM using up "extra" parts from the initial order of components for their lofty projected sales figures for the first model year (iirc they were projecting eight thousand units in the first calender year(?));
What supports my assertion of Chevrolet using up leftover parts on the 2010 model year Cobalts is that most 2010 model year Cobalts received the 'Pontiac' HVAC & radio surrounds - this would have been excess parts for cars that were not built for the 2010 model year;
If my recollection on calender year projected sales is correct, using numbers I got earlier (here), I accounted for 5,565 2008-2009 Cobalt SS's having been produced;
If GM was on the hook, because they ordered wheels, intercoolers, turbos, charge pipes (and everything else specific for our cars) for 8,000 cars, then I would estimate that aprox 2,400 Cobalt SS's would have been built for the 2010 model year.
This makes the numbers look like this:
*projected sales for first calender year = 8,000*
2008 my (SS/coupe): 1,766 <1,766>
2009 my (SS/coupe): 3,040 <4,806>
2009 my (SS/sedan): 759 <5,565>
2010 my (SS/coupe): 2,435 <8,000>

but its a regular GM produced car, how rare can it be? 10s of thousands are made?
now, on the other hand, I have a roush, now that is LIMITED and RARE and very collectable. on those, the numbers matter, since they need to match. 1 of 13 made in California.
just my 2 cents tho.

Because your "wondering" was obviously a setup for you to come in and beat your chest about your supposedly uber-rare Roush. That is gloating. And apparently you didn't bother to read the post like three above that said that there weren't "10's of thousands" made when you said that. So no, I don't buy it that you were just wondering. And if you're going to talk about how rare your Roush is then you OBVIOUSLY know what production numbers mean. C'mon, go troll on the facebook page.
i like the part "well its a regular produced GM car, how rare can it be? 10s of thousands are made?" that makes me laugh because tens of thousand mustangs are made too, except some just go to Saleen or Roush to have a body kit and supercharger put on them

how hard is it to see? I asked what does it matter, not knowing the rarity, and now that numbers are crammed in my face, I see the reasoning.
annyways! im out. have fun.
that's when my education on cobalts started ...
True, it's a bit apples-to-oranges. The Cobalt SS was factory produced while Saleen and Roushes are aftermarket retrofits.
OK, that's fine, just next time don't say how cool your Roush is right after asking the question.
Are you the original owner?
I would think that since I have seen factory documentation showing the sunroof was std equipment - and non-negotiable, that it might be more likely that your car was damaged, and at the time of repair, a solid roof was put on.
If you could, I would be VERY interested in seeing your RPO sticker (sliver, in your trunk, affixed o the floor, on the left side infront of where your sub is mounted);
if you used the link in my profile ot email me, I can reply to you so that you have my private email to send any pictures to.
