80% sure about getting a cobalt ss/tc
hey guys so im almost positive im gonna getting one of these machines!!!
i just have one question for you, the only handicap i see and it keeps ringing in my head is the FWD in the car. Is it really that bad or is the car so amazing it just cancels out the equation. I can't really drive one seeing as my dealer doesnt have them in stock. What are your thoughts???

If you're not planning on going drifting on the weekends, fwd will probably be fine. If you're looking at new cars around $23k you'd be hard pressed to find something rwd faster than a TC.

yeah im not planning on drifting haha. I really like the car the only thing i don't like about it is it's american. I just don't get a good vibe from those cars, even if its not true.

i know, i'm just way to skeptical. Majority of my friends tell me not to get it cuz it's american and they don't know anything about it. thats why i get discouraged hah.

Lets not forget about the other "badass" Chevy cars
A few that stick out in my head.
1970 Chevelle SS LS6 (underrated at 450 HP, highest advertised HP until the C6 Z06)
1957 Corvette that broke the 1 hp to 1 cubic inch.
Corvette ZR1(C4 and C6)
Corvette Z06 (C2, C5 and C6)
Corvette 66-69 with either 396,427, (preferably L88)
Camaro 1969 Z28 or SS
Camaro SS 4th gen

I can see where's he is coming from, but automobile makers has problem cars. IMO I would go with a new TC. A big reason I bought a brand new car was the warranty. If you get too old of a used car or has too many miles, no warranty for you and if something breaks you're SOL, whereas if it breaks on a brand new one, let the warranty take care of it.

The fact that it's fwd is a non-issue for me. The car is a blast to drive.
Reliability ? A lot of cars have annoying issues nowadays; not just american cars.
2000kms & no problems.

At first it's a challenge when it's a tad bit wet but once you get the hang of it, it's quite fine.
Wheelhop at first had to do with my de-clutching more than anything.
When you get comfortable with the clutch's feel, you'll get some pretty wicked 0-60's.

I thought that i didnt mind fwd until i drove my friends mach 1. Granted i have an sc not a tc but with tmy mods i should have the same power as one. I was able to cut a couple 2.1 60s and averaged low 2.2s but it took alot of trial and error. When i drove my buddys mach i was blown away at how easy it was to launch it. If you want to make some big power youd be better off with rwd or awd its sooooo much easier to put it to the ground.

you have no idea what your talking about. buying used is a much better deal. especially on a car like the cobalt that looses its value extremely fast. i bet most people that have new SS/TC owe more than thier car is worth.

Anyways, if ur going to get an american sport compact, dont get the SS/SC. The SS/TC, NSRT4, CSRT4 are all much better cars in terms of performance and potential.

I have worked as a tech for both American made cars and Japanese made cars. I can tell you from experience there all the same. All cars from anyone can have problems. The only reason Japanese cars have the rep they do is because of maintance. Japanese made vehicles really have maintance pushed hard on the customers and they do the required maintance. American made vehicles do have maintance pushed on the customers as hard so when the vehicle fails that’s where the bad rep comes from. America has come a long way in dependability.
