I slapped this sucker in today, my God why did this not come on the car?!?! At my height/seating position its perfect and unobtrusive... I can see how someone taller or with longer arms may not find it appealing though.

GMPP Engineers thought it might interfere with shifting in high performance driving situations so the thought it best to leave it out.
Or so I was told by the one at the CED meet last year...

GET IT! i bought mine from CED...i had one in my sport...now i put it in myTC. i actually did it faster than the directions said. if the interior is warm enough, you can just"gently" stretch the opening (where the old rear cup holders went) and slip the bracket in. now just lift the center of the shift column up to fasten the bolts down. a little cramped but it beats tearing everything apart. if you are unsure, definitely follow the directions. by the way, the cup holders, center trays and alike are held in with clips - no screws!! be gentle but use light force!! good luck!
I ordered the Automatic arm rest. It fit in my Manual 2009 SS just fine.
I assume the only difference in the kits is the instruction book that comes with it, taking apart the auto center console must be a bit different.
I like the arm rest. Im 5'11" and it doesn't hit my elbow when in the up position. In the down possition its at the perfect height to allow easy shifting while resting your arm.
I never use the e-brake, so that's a non-issue with me. To use the e-brake you just have to go all monkey claw on that thing!

Ouch for your transmission...I'm assuming you keep it in gear when you park it...if so, you are causing unnecessary strain on the transmission by leaving it in gear and not using the parking brake...
TrevMo:
I've been driving manual transmissions for the last 20 years. I always leave it in first gear when I park. And I've never used the e-brake. (GHASP!) Never once has my car rolled away and never once has my transmission failed.
On the other hand, I do jack my car up while parked to relieve the unecessary strain on my coil springs.....

I have health insurance and have never had to go to the emergency room...so should I cancel my policy just for fun?
There is no reason to not use your parking brake (notice it is called a parking brake for a reason)...just an added measure of safety...
