Another day, another issue. Wow...

When accelerating, as the car starts reaching closer to redline (maybe by 5k rpm), it'll start bogging and the CEL will flash for 5 seconds or so.

Hooked up my OBDII code scanner, but didn't get any codes.

I love this car, but at this point I'm starting to lose my cool. I've already thrown somewhere over $1000 since January 2015 in resolving issues.

Anyone have any ideas what it might?

Coolant was flushed today and I reinstalled the stock airbox a couple days ago for smog inspection, but the car did this same thing on Sunday when it still had the K&N + old coolant.

flashed then went away?

flashing means random misfire...

check cat, plugs, wires, fuel injector, harness, seal...

Spark plugs were replaced about 10k miles ago. DP replaced less than 1000 miles ago.

I'll try out the spark plugs. Should I just install them pre-gapped? I gapped them to like .032 or something last time I put some in.

What spark plugs did you use?

You should only be using stock plugs at stock gap or slightly less.

I just got back from O'Reilly's with NGK iridium spark plugs. Gapped them to .032.
Is that an issue? I don't know if I will be allowed to return/exchange plugs I've already gapped..

I said AC Delco only.

If you read the spark plug threads they tell you how finicky the lnf is.

They arent going to know you gapped them. Just stick them back in the boxes and go get ac delco. Lnfs only like stock plugs and they like new ones very often.

Yes stock plugs. When ur car bogs does it backfire like crazy? Could be injector seals, mine did that but with the misfire when I hit over 20 lbs boost at higher rpms.

O'Reilly didn't have AC Delcos. Just returned the NGKs and figure I'll buy some other ones later today/tomorrow.

What are the OEM plugs called?

I know there's iridium, there's those "professional conventional" or some ****, etc.

Okay, thanks, everyone.

This is why I hope this forum never dies. There are plenty of idiots like me trying to do basic work, and this forum really comes together to help as often as possible.
It's always a good site.

Could it be the timing chain? That's what happened to my Z24 when the timing chain started to wear. (random misfire and lots of power loss)
