Another "what about this cobalt" thread

So guys. The cobalt sedan I was hoping to get sold before I could get the money/loan unfortunately. However I found this one about 2 hours away from my house and was wondering what you all think ! Seems a little overpriced compared to kelly blue book. And I don't know how a lien title works. Just let me know please ! I love learning more about these cars.

If it is and always was truly stock then id get it. Id ask the guy tho if he parted it out.

With a lien you meet the guy at his bank and go inside with him to get the loan paid off and the title signed over. Or you can have him write you a bill of sale with the vin# and everything and meet up with him later to get the title

you can part out a car that's not yours technically ? Since he still owed money to the bank.

He means that this person could have taken off the modifications to sell separately. It's likely, in my mind. When I see such poor taste in aesthetics, I have a hard time believing they were only interested in looks.

Ahhh. Okay what are some things that might show that it may have been modded before ? I kinda like the grille color 😅 it's different. Calipers are also that color.

Since the link won't work. What seems like a honest price for this if it really is in great condition ?

Since a lot of people do intake and charge pipe related changes to these cars, look for evidence of the removal/replacement of parts. Wrench marks on bolts/nuts and scrapes. It's not necessarily bad if the car had been modified. The ad doesn't say never, just that it is nearly "factory" now. So ask if it had been modified at some point. If you find evidence to the contrary, he might be lying and I wouldn't want a car from somebody who lies about its history.

Very true. And that's a good point. I asked him. He said hes owned it for 3 years and since then has only added the blue. And interior dash lightning. Which would definietly be removed by me. Definitely will look for bolt wear though when I look at it Saturday.

anybody else wonder why a car with 68k miles already had a clutch replaced?
and i'd want to know what "performance clutch" was used, but that's just me.
Maybe my eyesight is failing me, but that exhaust tip doesn't look stock to me.
And the wheel gap doesn't look stock to me, it seems like lowering springs.
nice looking car though, good luck, to me it would seem a little overpriced, but you know, to each their own.

Very true. Don't know if this changes anything but the owner bought it from a dealer 3 years ago with 27,000 miles. And the clutch was already replaced before then. And What is the stock wheel gap on one of these. So when I go check it out. I can check.

Here is a closer look at the exhaust. I can't find any pictures of a stock tip to compare. So if someone who knows the difference wants to help let me know 😅

Update: just talked to the owner again. Said they have really no info on the clutch that was installed over 3 years ago. Is there any way to really tell if the clutch is truely an aftermarket performance clutch ?

Also doesn't seem like the owner knows too much about the car. Says doesn't know if it's had exhaust work before they owned it. Just a "nice little hum" lol

This is stock height. Mine does look a bit higher compared to the car in the ad, despite the different angle. Measure from the hub center to the edge of the fender. Mine is 14.25" front, 15" rear.

You can kind of see the difference in exhaust tips, too. Even though mine isn't clean on the inside edge, it doesn't stick out as far.

Definitely will do ! Thank you. Any insight about the clutch being replaced by chance before it even hit 30k miles ? Also. Beautiful car 😅👍

Two possibilities I see. They sucked at driving a manual and slipped the clutch too much unnecessarily. Maybe their first car. Or they added power and the stock clutch slipped too much. I've done both to the same car, actually. Killed my new Audi A4's clutch in 25k miles. Then found the limit of the stock replacement 173k miles later at Englishtown Raceway Park. Thanks, I'm pretty serious about cleanliness when it comes to my cars.

You could even just get under the car and look at the springs. If they are anything arent black then you know for sure its not stock. You can get the part # off the spring tag and google it to see what it is.

Id say either one of the PO's had no idea how to drive stick and roasted the **** out of it, replaced it because they were making so much power that it started slipping, or there was a defect from the factory and the dealer replaced it under warranty.
