attention all!! 2009 cobalt "real life" performance.
All,
so today i'm goin down I-75 rite at the M-59 interchange, i look behind me as i jump over a few lanes and see a yellow cobalt.....with silver wheels.
at first i thought it was a 05-07 until it got closer and i saw the mulit-spoke silver wheels from the 09+ cars.....i was most excited by this.
by the time he got close to my rear bumper i had the cruse set at 80 and he came up on me going at least 90....
as he pulled even with my rear quarter window i dropped it to 3rd and gave her the go pedal, boost rolled in and i begin to pull away...BUTTTTTT at a rather slow pace...i'd say form 90-120ish (3-4shift) i put about 1.5-2 cars on him...
after we cleared some traffic we went at it again, he hug pretty good thro 3rd but once i hit 4th i started to pull better
in my current winter form i'm at 17psi from 3900-7400 with 21deg of advance a solid 275-285whp set up.(edited below)
thats the upper end of dam near all LSJ set ups (2.5 cars with all the works) and the LNF car was staying REAL, REAL good with me...i was VARY suprised.
now i'm the biggest LNF hater of sorts, the engine has massive limitations and huge hurdles to overcome before it can be vary aftermarket friendly but none the less at STOCK LNF car is going to shock and surprise dam near every one on here....
the people with basic 2.7 set ups are going to be doing allot of "WTF" looks.
keep your eyes peeled for the new cars guys, think twice before goin at it...you'll be suprised.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(edit)
i dug up some old dyno pulls....i only did 1 low psi pull(16psi) and ran up 274whp
so at 17ish i'd say 285ish tops.....

it MIGHT have been a pre-production unit on the road, i'm in the heart of auto-co land....the major proving grounds are all rather close to my location.
no "m" plate on the car tho...
couldent hear ****.
the wind noise, my car, ect made it just about impossible to hear any thing from that car.

it may not be SOP(start of production) yet but there are several pre-production units, always are.
its a production validated unit thus no "M" plate so its production spec.

screw the LNF cars.....They will need 300+whp to touch me, most idiots wont know to just put a 150 shot of nitrous on them cause they will be scared of breaking the warranty, when in reality the DFI is amazing and you can make power safe, but those idiots are going to be like SRT-4 owners and blow their **** up left and right cause they will just keep trying to turn the boost up.

I find this not very realistic.
Sorry, but I would like for you to explain to me how you were able to tell that the "08.5 Cobalt" had the correct wheels? I know for sure that at 80+mph almost all wheels look the same.
Are you sure they were a split 5 spoke, or did you get to slow down to a point where you could tell for 100% that they weren't an 8 or 10 spoke wheel?
I would guess it was just a 05-07 SS that had just slightly less mods than you and aftermarket wheels.
Oh and for the people who are still misinformed, you won't hear the BOV because there isn't one. It has a sort of bypass valve that vents back into the intake pipe.

the two lights we were stuck at gave me the needed time to look the car over.
the badging and wheels were all correct.

i live in the mixing pot of the OEMs, there are camouflaged test mules on the road almost every day, let alone PV'd pre-production cars.

If you saw either of those, I'm a believer.
Good kill. But if you are right, it does sound like the SS/TC will be a contender, I'm really curious to see what the stage kit will do to this car.

Cool, did you get a chance to check out the front grills, or see if the seats were the new cloth style?
