Autoweek, RWD? wtf?

In the most recent issue of Autoweek, on one page it compares performance 4 bangers, from the new Evo down to the Cobalt SS Turbo.

It lists the drivetrain and power specs for each, IE awd for Evo, fwd for SRT-4, and for the SS Turbo, it says "rwd or fwd".

Wtf?

I think that is the only real mistake chevy made with this car. It should have been rwd for the supercharged and turbocharged models from the start.

They would have had to have WAYYYYY more powerful engines.

not really, if you look at the european global platforms from gm, the opel and vauxhall are both rwd and have more than respectable numbers to show. Traction would be much easier for us and we could enjoy burnouts too!

Your reply makes no sense and I dont get your reasoning behind it. The sky and solstice hqve the same engine and its RWD and it has no problem going. Neither does any other RWD models with the same or lower HP like the old 5.0L mustangs or the 350Z/G35. I just really have no clue what your talking about so why dont you back your reasoning up with some useful info.

What he is trying to say, is that a RWD set up loses more due to the drivetrain.

it does lose a tiny bit more, like 2-3% more drivetrain, but that is not much at all.

The Delta Platform was not made for RWD.... So they couldn't have done it even if they wanted!

Perhaps the Delta II?

The Volt is built off of it and I believe it is RWD...

Maybe... The rumors were that If saab was gunna be Put on delta, there was gunna be a need for AWD... so they were trying to make it where it could be used for FWD and AWD... and If it could take AWD... RWD would be far off....
