BCM Reader?
My Cruise Control stopped working the other day and I'm trying to figure out why. There are no codes in the Engine Control Module, which would lead me to guess that it's the BCM that's complaining. Other than taking it to a GM dealer is there a way for me to find out what the issue is that's preventing the cruise from setting?
Isn't this the infamous brake lamp switch issue?
Edit: or is it the "clutch disengaged" switch? I can't remember which. Go around back of your car and make sure the brake lights aren't on. If they are not, check that clutch pedal switch.

Brake lights work properly, first thing I checked because I did the LED 3rd brakelight swap a few weeks back.
I can't find a blown fuse and pulling the clutch up with my toe doesn't do anything. The switch could be bad for sure though. How would I test it? I don't want to buy and put on parts that I don't need.

It has a resistor though. Cruise worked fine for a month with the LED 3rd brake light on the car. Was driving the other day with it on and it just kicked out. Hit resume and it set for a mile or two then kicked back out. Now it won't even set.
Now, this was the day I got new tires and went from the factory tires to 235/40/18 Maybe the V.S.S. is all upset. Probably not for a change like that though as the tire circumference change is minisule. Probably coincidence.
I still need to step on the clutch to start the car so I don't know if the clutch switch is the issue.

Not due to the tire change. If it was the brake switch your brake lights should kick on when it does it. Usually when that happened with the clutch switch it wss due to people resting their foot on the clutch. Make surr you arent doing that. Im gonna assume you've checked the fuse if there is one. Maybe the cruise switch on the steering wheel is just going bad? Only way to read a bcm code if you were to have one is with a tech2.

It's not the brake lights. Checked that several times.
Don't ride the clutch. I owned and drove tractor trailers for over a million miles and never replaced a single clutch. I know how to stay off the clutch
Didn't see any blown fuses but I'll take another check. Only checked them once.
I'd check resistance if I knew what amount to check for and where to check it.
In the end I think I'm going to have to pay the dealer to give it a looking at with a tech 2. Not a fan, but i guess it is what it is.
I appreciate all the suggestions and answers. Open to more if you've got them.
