The Best Exhaust You Can Get For Turbo Cobalt SS

hey ya'll!
next year i might, just might be considering getting an exhaust for my cobalt SS turbo. Right now im actually quite fine with its sound both at an idle and taking off but i might consider an upgrade.

My 3 major concerns are this.......

#1 the sound. I dont want some ear splitting whine that you would most likely hear on a lawn mower.......or a CRX HAHAHAHA

#2 performance. is it worth it for the performance. Im not going to waste money on small HP gains if thats all i can get out of an exhaust system.

#3 Looks. i thnk the trock exhaust pipe looks gerat for the car but ive seen a few peoples turbo cobalts on here that look terrible IMHO.

So im asking you.........what is the all around best?? show videos if ya got em cause that speaks for itself.

Its worth mentioning that i live less than an hour from an MBRP factory in Huntsville Ontario. A lot of guys i work with swear by MBRP but they all have trucks and i dont know anyone who has got an MBRP exhaust on a car. i know that if you buy an MBRP exhaust and go right to the factory in huntsville they will install it for FREE!

so what do ya'll think???

I have a clearimage 3" dp with 3" catback and I love the sound. It's not toooo loud at partial throttle but at wot it sounds sick. You won't gain much outta a catback, but you will outta a dp

Down pipe will give you performance (15 HP), Catback is much more expensive and will prolly only add 5 HP. If sound is a concern, get catted DP...I have one..only a couple HP less there. If you still want a catback with modest sound, you can get what I just got..the Agency Catback. It's on sale and you can get it SHIPPED for $390 from Turbo Tech Racing (in my sig). The original MSRP was $700. It's a quality unit..polished SS all the way. It's not a 3", but a 2.5"... they are the only ones to claim a 10 HP gain directly attributable to the catback alone (dyno verified) and a 3" catback isn't needed for a stock turbo. It's the DP where you want 3" and free flow (cat or no cat).
See my thread on the Agency here:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...talled-233710/

If you really want to keep it quiet, use the silencer provided with the kit and modify it (for more high end flow) like I did.

3 in Hahn catless dp and 3 in Hahn catback with the resonator cut out has treated me well. It pops and gurgles sooo much.

If you are able to throw a few extra bucks, I would definitely get the Hahn complete exhaust (downpipe and cat-back), Injen cold air intake and Injen upper and lower intercooler pipe. You can find them all at modernperformance.com for a good price, unless you find it cheaper somewhere else. The cold air intake and the intercooler pipe will look great if then you put the red valve cover. I have them all on mine, and it looks terrific!!!!! All of this for about 1500 $. Then, with a good tune, your car can hit 320-330hp at the dyno. The can changes completely, it is definitely worth it the money, you will be highly satisfied.

Try just the downpipe first. You might like it enough to not even want to spend the money on a catback.

would a 3" catback be any louder than just a muffler delete?

Muffler delete is louder than a catback with res and muffler still there.

do you have an SS/SC or SS/TC?

if you have a TC, get a catless DP and a Vibrant muffler (with 4 inch chrome tip) take to a welding/muffler shop and have them mock up a 3 inch exhaust and call it a day.

BOOM! done.

Yeah..I had mine catted and was much more *mellow*.
You really don't have many options here since it's a stock catback already. I would get get the DP catted...you're really not looking at any significant reduction in power either. That's your only option..unless you want to weld up another resonator to the stock set up?

You can "tune" any exhaust to sound a certain way. Catless always gurgles and pops more than a catted car. Cheapest fix for you is to replace the muffler and resonator for a magnaflow, vibrant etc.
