Can RPD be added to an 09 SS?

I have seen the thread about adding one to an 08 and all the extra crap that is involved in doing so, but are the 09's any different or is there still a lot of extra work involved in adding it?

There is no easy way to install an RPD. Just get a MSD Dashhawk. Save yourself some money, and time in labor.

I think there are some older threads about this... I don't think it's possible, but I may speaking out of my rear. I know I read some stuff about this at some point... I probably should just shut up and say nothing though, because this really isn't answering anything for you.....

And yea you're probably better off going aftermarket and getting something to tell you more that will probably be more accurate. I'm having some issues with the HP/TQ reading on mine with a tune..

I am not interested in aftermarket, its the RPD or nothing as far as I'm concerned. If there is no easy way then I will have to make sure the one I get has it. Thanks!

Perfect, I thought you were looking to add to current vehicle. In that case, definitely get it, it's nice to have!! And people are amazed to see it when they get in.. think twice about actually being inside a Cobalt!!

I know how that goes... my search lasted several months when I found mine last year. Are you keeping the SS/SC? I had to trade mine.. sad day!

It can be done in under an hour easy. I've done it for a friend with an '09 SS/TC.

To my knowledge they didn't. There's also the issue with the '08 software not being able to change the units between standard and metric. This can be overcome however. I bet this one is one they installed themselves. It'll work... just needs to be set to the correct units.

Anyway, that all's beside the point. An RPD is available!

Nope. We added wires and used wire splicers to keep from having to do that. This kept full boost gauge and OBDII functionality while adding RPD functionality.

Here's the write up that the guy I did it for posted up:

http://www.gmofhouston.com/forums/in...showtopic=1080

He just got registered on CSS.net after like a year of trying. His screen name on there/here is Cubaniche. If you have any questions, feel free to ask him or me.

If your shopping then try and find one with an RPD built in as stated above. But if your like me and you find a SS/TC that has it all sans the RPD then it CAN be added. I know, I did With lots of help from member Stamina we installed mine in under an hour. Its the planning that took some time but once I understood what we were doing, actually implimenting it was easy.

Here are a few pics:

I have a vid of it working too:

Do it! Its great being able to stare at the AFR all the time. It made me even more paranoid about my car...lol

BTW As Stamina said. I registered last year in March when I bought my car and JUST NOW was aproved for posting.

To the OP, just know that this is an option after the fact if you so choose to. My car had the USB and bluetooth and sunroof but no G85 and no RPD. One down one to go!

Cubaniche and I are both over that and it works fine.

The only thing I wouldn't trust is the HP/Torque screen once you get tuned in general. It's because of the ECU though, not the RPD.

I'm working on getting ZZP to mock up a pillar for the RPD for people that want to stick an extra gauge or two in it. Maybe they could do a sedan RPD pillar while they're at it. lol
