Its nice to see that 3 out of the 4 classes were won by American car compinies. Look at the ss/tc and sti times, ss/tc blows it away, wow, that is pretty impressive.

Didnt bother clicking the link but isnt that the write up where the SS lost the performance battle because its interior wasnt as nice as the other cars..lol Guess GM didnt throw enough money at the magazine co.

No this one was strictly "go fast." Good stuff! The one you're thinking of is probably the one where the MKV GTI beat the Cobalt out of nowhere...it was close to last in EVERY performance category then I believe their words were "And the GTI ranks second because we just love the plaid seats"...WTF??? I absolutely can't stand anything that C&D does...they are EASILY the most biased of all car magazines.

I keep hearing on this site that the Caliber is faster than the TC, atleast in a straight line. This info says otherwise though, peak speed...

Based on C&D's times, the TC is 13.9 @ 102.5, and the Caliber is 14.4 @ 104. So according to them, a higher trap...

A few years back they ran a test titled "Cheap Speed",where the SRT4 clearly beat every car in the test, yet finished 2nd to the RSX,because of the interior? Then why the **** call it Cheap Speed, they should have just called it we like to swing on Honda's nuts.

Ya i remember reading that article, the wrx was in it too, and I think they had a v6 mustang, or were mentioning why it wasnt in there.

If i remember right they gave it to the rsx because they said "But when it comes down to it, wouldnt you rather say you drive an acura instead of a dodge, or subaru" Again cheap speed?

But i thought this was pretty bad ass, it blew the STI out of the water in twisties, and nudged out the evo, which is something of an iconic track star in everyones minds.

But to me the most surprising of the bunch is the Lotus Supercharge, those things are MADE for the track, and it even it got beat by our econobox!

yeah, the SS/TC did pretty good. the new Evo is pretty slow stock from the factory. they added too much weight and not enough extra power(although hp gains are very easy). the funny thing is last years Lightning Lap the N/A Lotus ran a muich quicker time than the S/C Lotus. kinda makes me wonder

07 Lightning Lap the Elise ran a 3:09 vs the 3:16 of this year.

My guess would be that a lotus Elise is already as fast as it's going to get around a track. It's already as light as it can get and just adding more power would make it harder to control. They should have added a small turbo rather than a supercharger that way they would have less traction issues at lower speeds.

The lotus SC is only like 30 more horsepower, it just adds a better/ wider torque band.
