Nice find, looking good if even car and driver like it. Looks like the 09 will have some sweet features.

"When the 2009 model year commences in late June, a Cobalt SS sedan will be added, and we expect the price to be the same. A few other pieces of equipment may be added as well: an in-dash navigation system could be as low as $275, Bluetooth connectivity will be available, and there’s talk of offering a programmable data logger that would replace the A-pillar-mounted boost gauge. "

From C&D...

I still want the 08.........

The steering system’s rack, electronics, and tuning are all unique to the SS, as is the car’s pedal box, which has been optimized to provide better heel-toe downshifts.
Damn!! Nobody has said a thing about the changed pedal arrangement!!

Better for Heel-Toe eh? Sounds like GM really does visit this site, and actually listened to us.

^GTI interior doesn't look any better/worse than our car.

And the best lateral G's they could pull with the GTI was .84g with 17" wheels/tires.

That's what my 'ol 5L Mustangs did way back in the 80's (and those tires were 15 inchers!).

LOL

"(The naturally aspirated, imposter SS was discontinued after 2007, too; Chevy now calls that model the Cobalt Sport.)"

"Imposter SS" Now I know what to call my SS/NA

Have you ever sat in a GTi? The trim is real aluminum, not silver painted plastic, the steering wheel feels like a million dollars in your hands and the gauges are beautiful, much more expensive looking than ours. The pedals are aluminum from the factory, I can go on...

Why would I want a metal interior? more weight perhaps thats why VWs are always too damned heavy

Im sorry but nothing VW has ever felt like more than a butt plug for the queers that drive them

I really dont spend much time looking at my pedals, Im more concerned about what happens when i press them down

Nope, I haven't sat in a GTI.

And I'll certainly take your word for it as it regards the hi-quality interior parts.

Still (for just an additional $900) I now have a 245hp GM Warrantied Stage 2 SS/SC.

And I LIKE that .... quality interior or not!

LOL

I may actually want to trade... the no-lift shift and launch control sounds pretty fun

I still want those 4-piston calipers and wheels!

Too early yet.

Those automotive journalists were just allowed to drive the cars around on a specified race track.

Full on tests are probably still a few moths away ....

They prefer to test POST production vehicles, and not possibly "factory tweaked" PRE production cars.

Probably for the best I guess.

The 0-60 is only expected to be 2 tenths faster then a stock SS/SC. I think I will keep the ss/sc. The suspension, no lift shift and launch control to sound like fun though.
