checked out a couple lnfs help me out
car 1 - 08 yellow coupe highrise, sunroof, bone stock, 1600kms, $16500.
car 2 - 09 black highrise, sunroof, bone stock (may have motor mount) 33000km, $14999.
so i take car 2 for a road test, fresh trade in, hasnt been cleaned yet. its nice and tight, runs drives good, a little vibe on steering wheel, which makes me suspect engine mounts. i really like it. feels tighter more responsive than my lsj was.
payments on black car are approx $109 biweekly 6 yrs.
to all u lnf owners, what do you hate and what makes you love your car? anything that drives u crazy? anything that makes u mad everytime u get behind the wheel?
meeting with dealer tomorrow at 10 am. need any input. thanks.

you plan on financing a used car for a 6 year term!!??
you do know your car will depreciate at a much faster rate than you will owe on it right? I hope you plan on keeping this car for a very long time...
I would not finance a used car of this caliber for longer than 2-3 years.

well the thing is i just bought a house this summer and dont want to be living paycheck to paycheck. thats why the payment is so low. it is an open consumer loan so i can put money down at anytime to shorten the length.
Then you need to grow up and make a sacrifice for the time being. Live within your means, buy a car you can afford with no questions asked. You need to plan for the "What If's"... for example what if you lose your job and can no longer afford both as you have been unable to put money away? what is major damage occurs on your house and you cannot afford repairs...
I doubt the OP needed a lesson on financial security.
I would go for the black one because it's newer (yeah it has a few more Km's) but it's also cheaper and it's not an ugly yellow
:p

Also, Be careful with the 09. Some (like mine) has had the porous block factory defect issue. its been a headache trying to get it warrantied with the dealer.
Which is why he is financing a used $16,000 car over 6 years so as to not live paycheque to paycheque... Last time I checked the Recession was caused by this exact mentality! "live to the border of our means and when **** goes down hill and I can no longer afford anything I will address the issue at that time!"
Best of luck op, I know my advice went in one ear and out the other.

if you have no positive input, please keep it to yourself
He is...making the loan longer and having smaller payments..
Why do people talk down on others decisions when they love the car and thats what they want to do. its like the 10th thread ive read about this same thing.

Holy jesus... this is why I stopped posting on these boards.
Congrats on all the wonderful things! however financing a USED cobalt for a 6 year term is a horrible move... Not my money! enjoy.
and, it not your money correct. go be ghey somewhere else
believe me its not goin in one ear and out the other. didnt say im buying for sure. i could have signed papers and left deposit yesterday, but i walked away, to think about it, and i came to the forum to ask people how they liked their cobalts so i could get opinions. but now just getting a hard time.
i would say do it, i wish i got the TC instead of the SC
Could have gotten it for a higher payment, but i settled with the SC because it was a lot more affordable at the time.
Now I can afford the TC but I owe more than it's worth unfortunately.

my biggest hate is traction. I dont have any. I simple tune will give you way more power than the car needs, and GMS1 is tons of fun.
My other issue is that they are cobalts, and rattleboxes.
Mechanically, the car is awesome, make sure it has an LSD, if it doesnt, walk away the car is useless.

LSD (RPO G85, look at the label in the trunk under the carpet) helps in cornering, but in a straight line without it, it won't be useless. Both wheels will be driven.
I'd go for black one(personal color preference)And if ur tight on money... **** that ones cheeper. And with the LSD part. Yea it makes a difference. Unless your racing your car everyday. Its not that big of a deal IMO, I don't have it. O well, thats why they make new tires. Not having LSD hasn't rendered my modded cobalt as useless in anyway and I have a few extra horsepower.
The engine, powertrain, suspension, seats, radio, sound system... are all completely solid.
Biggest gripes: Traction (lack thereof), trim rattles/buzzes/squeaks, BRAKE SQUEAL! The brakes squeal so much when its cold that its almost embaressing.

k i was going to ask you guys how to tell if it has lsd. so i will be checking that out under the carpet in the trunk. thanks for the positive input guys!
on a side note, yes these brakes were squealing as well lol

2000 for 31000km difference.. Great deal... Get the lower kms for all the payment difference over 6 years it will make... Talk them down to 14,900 lol.
Really though that's a third of the bumper to bumper difference on warranty good deal.... Plus it's barely broken in...

rear brakes suck, first gear is worthless if you floor it, on stock tires at least 2nd gear becomes worthless once your tuned you'll spin as easy as first gear stock. other than that i love mine
pick ur favorite of the 2 and go for it.
I just bought my 2010 new on 12/10/10. I love it. It is soooo much smoother riding than my 07 SS/SC was....and the rpd is badass
Only downside is i have had this car for just over a week and it has 500 miles on it and i'm getting the infamous brake squeak
