CIA DP installed.....muff delete = Review

I think it's been asked a few times and I can now give my 2 cents. I picked up my new "catted" CIA DP today, all looks great, install went fine. started it up... didn't sound too loud gave it a little gas...ut oh...kind of loud....took it for a drive and got on it a bit with the windows down and I was saying yikes because now I feel like THAT GUY. Yes it's a bit on the loud side if you have no muffler. Not complaining about the DP at all, just saying, you might think twice if you've already removed your muffler. That is if you want to try and keep it low somewhat key vs. Hey look at me I drive a SS/TC and everyone should know it.

I now feel like I can pull up to a car with a potato shooter coming out the back bumper and give them a rev for their money.

Do you still have the resonator? Try a straight through magnaflow muffler.

DON'T DO ITTTTT, idk how the LNF sounds without the resonator, but the LSJ sounded like fart city without the resonator. I would keep it, or at least go to a magnaflow to up the diameter at least.

yes I do, I think I might look at my cat back options now, before just adding a muffler

Mazdaboi you must really want to be THAT GUY to make it louder . Do you have muff delete and DP already? If not put the DP on first then take off the muffler, I doubt you'd want any louder, my guess tonight would have to be that it's over 110 db. In my state I think that 96db is the limit.

I was so embarrassed when I did my catback on my LSJ with no resonator and just a magnaflow race muffler, I was afraid to get on it and did everything in my power to keep the rpms low so nobody thought I was an *******. I bet a good catback with res and muffler will quiet her down.

removing the resonator, lol. I did that in my old car so I had a straight pipe set up. makes your car sound like its shitting itself. But Its LOUD. its better to remove cats and put in test pipes with a purpose built catback exhaust.

^ you got it

resonator is there for a reason and it doesnt restrict. it offsets the resonations that the exhaust gases create going through a pipe thats over 7 feet long. these resonations cause the gases to escape in waves which then translate to huge car sharts.

so you have the stock exhaust right now? Is it louder with the catted DP and stock exhaust then just having everything stock? Or does it sound the same?

I am catless with stock muffler and it sounds pretty mean. I was thinking of doing the muffler delete before I put on the CIA DP, but I wasn't expecting such a drastic change in sound just from going with the DP. It gets pretty loud at WOT. That and a muffler delete might be too much for me.

I feel like such as tool driving this thing today. I work in the city and can just hear the sound bouncing off of the buildings, sounds like a big ass tuba and when you let off in 1st and 2nd it sounds like someone clearing the spit out of their big ass tuba. Either I'm driving my other car tomorrow or putting the stock DP back on tonight until I come up with the funds for a cat back.

and fyi for reference my focus had what most on the Focus Forum considered the 2nd loudest exhaust, and I loved it. This is at least twice as loud.

Eh cost $75 to take it off, and I didn't want to keep it so left it at the shop, so I'd have to pay $$amount to get something else probably costing over $100 might as well just save that money towards a full cat back. I"ll try and research cat backs later. I see CIA's is upwards of $600 I'm not feeling that just yet. I'm local to CIA and I know there are a couple of guys around here that have the DP and CB, so maybe I can meet up and see what they sound like first.

I do see that CIA uses a Magnaflow muffler, is there any real benefits to putting on their CB? vs just putting on a Magnaflow muffler?

The reason I cut the muffler off was I never thought I'd move this fast on buying my parts, but these damn GB's keep coming up.

I just got my CIA catted dp today. I plan on pairing it with the stock catback if anybody's interested in the results.

I tried getting it on today, but had trouble with that top bolt of the 3 in the back (I could get something on it, but just not enough torque to make it budge at that angle). I put some WD40 on it and may try again tomorrow after it soaks for a bit. I bought a breaker bar too, so I'm determined to get that baby off. I had the whole thing off and disconnected (including the O2 sensor) except for that one bolt. I couldn't believe it.
