Clueless SS/SC owner...
So i was pumping gas today at sunocco and a black ss/sc pulled in. When the guy came back out of the store i was like hey nice car. (because they looked identical pretty much, except for the wheels and grille) he goes yea you too what year is that i told him 2008 and he came over to check it out. He told me how he liked the wheels and asked me where i bought them. I told him they were stock. He asks me what else is different about mine and his. I told him that mine has a turbo and his is supercharged and this was his reply..."Yea I heard they were going to downgrade the new ones." I'm like yyeeeaaaaaa cause yours had 205hp and mine has 260hp right? and his next answer was " well mine is a super and yours is just a turbo right?" I just looked at him and said "Yeeeeaaa hmm well nice meeting you and have a good one i'll see you around i gotta get going"

Lol wow.... Yes they did upgragde the new ss/tc with a better drivetrain of 3.82 instead of the old 4.01.... Better brakes, seats of yours were stock they are very similiar and quality wise to the recaros n thats about it... A stock ss/tc is not anywhere as fast as a stage 2 cobalt but more than likely they will have more aftermarket
But yah to that guy he sounds like a totally douche

i love how people argue about this.. at the end of the day.. they are all just cobalts (sorry, someone had to say it) A FWD economy car!
my car is great, and runs strong.. but either way, if you want to go fast, a cobalt is not your ticket..

i have test driven already 3 ss/tcs to tell you the truth the ss/tc feels alot smoother in each gear, the launch control is nasty on those cars no wheel hop and it is refined over a ss/sc.... They handle great compared to a ss/sc but these are all minor upgrades you can do to the ss/tc.... I wasnt impressed with the speed of the car it would beat a stock ss/sc it felt like def. from a dig but from a roll im sure 100% about a stage 2 demolishing it...

If there's anyone in the Albany, NY area who has an SS/T and who would like to have a few fun runs against an SS/SC Stage 2 + 0 (+ 0 meaning nothing else but Stage 2, not even a K&N filter), pm me or let me know.
Would be interesting.
thanks!

We all know that statement is complete bullshit, I hope these TC owners don't start spouting this **** off. Since when did you see a SS/SC with 205 whp? I never have.. Let's take the average SS/SC dyno of ~215 whp, adjusting that for drivetrain loss of 15% we see that a SS/SC really has 253 hp at the crank... you sir have a terrible argument.

Just FYI ...
Modified Mag got 199.6whp with their test on a stock SC. Then they added Stage 2 and got 223.8whp
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...highlight=dyno
The ONLY WAY to perfectly settle the hp issue is to have an SS/T and a SS/SC (stock or Stage 2 with no other mods) tested on the SAME DYNO, on the SAME DAY.
I'll offer up my Stage 2 + 0 SS/SC.
Any takers SS/T owners?
