Sounds like maybe ice breaking up or bushings making a lot of noise in the front suspension/engine area (from heard inside). Whatever it is makes a loud noise for each bump I hit for about ~5 medium sized bumps (Detroit measuring scale), then it goes away completely.

Anyone else have anything like this happen yet with the cold weather?

Maybe the struts or strut mounts are making the noise?

I know on the mazdaspeed 3, when it was cold the front end creaked all the time.

the struts/shocks just need to warm up. most cars do that.

yup my ss/tc does the same when it's cold out, takes 5-10 mins max for the car to warm up from driving and the noise dissapears.

Same exact problem! - Maybe it's the city we live in!! It only just started with the cold temps. I wouldn't worry about it. My rear brakes squeal like a bitch when I back out of my garage in the morning - Not worried about that either because it isn't an issue after I drive a few feet.
