Clutches

anyone using an organic full face unsprung clutch? not puck style. im looking for a good clutch for my F40 swap and there doesnt really seem to be any good options for the regal anywhere. i did find this company called sachs in germany that sells race clutches for the opel insignia (same as regal). good for 550+ tq but the disc is unsprung.

the problem im having is im not sure if an unsprung disc would be too harsh on the drivetrain parts and not be easy to daily drive. but maybe since its organic and full face it could be better but im not sure. what do you guys think?

i would get the zzp kit with the light flywheel but i dont want the chatter at all so thats out of the question. i mainly want a clutch that works with the stock F40 dual mass flywheel and can hold whatever power the 7163 throws at it.

Dont go with an unsprung clutch for street driving! Things will break over time. Seen it happen way too many times.

yep ive seen and heard all the horror stories but most were using a sintered puck style clutch which is why i was wondering about a full face organic style if it would be any different being unsprung also.

the company is claiming the clutch is very streetable with not much difference in pedal feel

Sachs makes a lot of OEM clutches, I think they even make the stock clutch for the LSJ. I would trust what they say.

so i decided to go with the stock F40 disc and the upgraded sachs pressure plate. hopefully running this kind of setup would allow for at least a bit more holding strength over the 100% stock clutch. stock dual mass flywheel also.

what do you guys think? should i have went with the unsprung disc for full out 7163 power?

Adding the pressure plate will definitely help. Your tuner will be the ultimate answer to whether or not the clutch holds.

No its custom flywheel and twin disk 725 clutch masters pressure plate and disk then a billet tob which is rebuildable and serviceable so if and when f40 tob are on backorder no real wait time

Why you want stock flywheel to work with something better like a complete kit from flywheel to tob to to lines going to tob better option is completely doing away with stock

If you want stock then go with stock I held 470 whp 450 wtq on factory Saab clutch not even the bigger awd version of it for almost 2.5 years and I'll I do is race my car every time I take my car out is to be abused

And yes my clutch only lasted 2.5 years of abused before slippage caused my n2mb to cause head to lift from misfire because of rpm bouncing around to much on track during racing conditions

All I'm saying is basically if you looking for that kind of power or tq them why wry about it to much on factory set up / flywheel because if you running that kind of tq then you need a solid option like I suggested

im sure there is amazing upgraded clutches. matter of fact i know there is. the point of my original post was to see if there was any that work with the stock F40 flywheel for the reasons i said.

lots of great companies make great clutches that work with the stock F35 flywheel and also with the stock flywheels of other cars and i was wondering why nothing existed for the F40. i daily the car. its not a racecar. im looking for full driveability and no loud annoying chatter but at least a bit more force over stock. LOTS of cars run good clutches with stock flywheels. my gsx with a big ass holset turbo was on stock flywheel with an act clutch. drove just like stock but grabbed like crazy!

if you were holding 450wtq thats pretty damn good for stock and im sure the setup i ended up going with will be good for the 7163 and who knows, maybe down the road ill just go full out light flywheel too and drive around picking up groceries rattling like a ducatti all over town =)
