Cold start early morning=mad neighbors

i just moved into a house and have a typical dead end alley,i opened the garage door yesterday and was sitting in my car for the usual 3 to 4 minutes like every morning letting my car warm up and as i was sitting there i see my neighbors room light turn on (it was 5 am and dark as hell) and then i see a shadow walk over the the window and kind of peek through the blinds and look at me. i sat there and thought "oh ****,i hope she dont come chew on my ass for my car being loud" i have the Muffler Delete so it is kind of loud on cold starts ya know.

does anyone else run into this problem with their neighbors or have neighbors say something else to them later that day?

i have a 2 car garage and i pull straight into the garage cause i have my snowmobile sitting right there and the way my car is positioned the exhaust is pointed straight at her house lol idk if i should feel kind of like an ******* or if i shouldnt worry about it. this lady is super cool and what not. ive talked to her like 3 times this week and she hasnt said anyting to me about it. maybe im just over thinkin it

Why what you gonna do about it. Just appologize next time you see her and let her know it is a loud car and its staying that way.

They will get used to it. You probably dont have to let it warm up that long tho. Once the oil pressure is up youre good to go.

back into your garage if youre that worried about it, 5 minutes of running the car with the exhaust away from the door shouldnt cause any breathing issues

I'll echo the warm up comments. Just let it warm up to like 115 ish and drive. I don't punch it until the car gets to 180 though. Just drive normal until then.

My neighbors truck is louder than my car so I don't get any complaints.

My old neighbors said something about it since their bedroom is in the front of the house, and all I have is the stock resonator. But oh well, can't please everyone.

it gets into the 40's-50 degrees so i usually letit warm up until around 100-115 degrees. i saw her today and talked to her to but that thought is always in the back of my head ya know. i live back at my dads house (moved out for about a year but now im back at my dads house) and with my LS i had a high flow cat,no resinator and a high flow muffler lol and she never said anything then. i was just curious cause she is a really cool neighbor compared to some of the other POS's around my house. just getting some peoples opinions.

when i got the muffler delete,i was at work and i started my car and ran back into my work and as i was in my work a few guys i work with was like is that your car and thats when it kinda hit me that it was loud and then when i saw the neighbor lady lookin in her window it just made me think.

what do ya do. and its not like im going to do anything about it.

That sucks that you guys all have SS TCs that run off carburetors, dino oil, and manual timing. Mine has direct injection, modern computer, and synthetic oil. I get to jump in the car, start it, and go.

I live on a culdesac in a small neighborhood and my car has a 3" catless downpipe and a muffler delete. None of my neighbors have complained to me at all when I leave in the morning for work in the SS or with my old Evo that had a 3" turbo back with no cat and that car was a lot louder than the Cobalt.

I'm with Wangspeed, I just start my car and take off.

This. I start my car in the morning and as soon as it turns over I'm driving away. Just when you drive don't give it hell to it's warmed up. You don't have to sit there...

Yup, me too. I give it maybe 10 -30 seconds at most even in the winter then roll. Just take it easy until it warms up. Some will even say that idling for a long time is bad for engines.

hahaha my neighbors probably cant stand me, my exhaust vibrates my house alone, i could imagine what it does to others.

and you let it warm up to like 100 before you go, at least let the RPM's drop thats how long i usually wait

thats [retty much what i do. ppl say u can just start it and drive but idk i think letting it warm up is better for the engine, and yea operating temps if ur gonna floor it
