Dealer rotated my tires

Dealer rotated my tires a few weeks ago and now tonight I went to refill a low tire and it ended up being the wrong one. The dash reads my RR low but it's really my RF tire. Anyone know how to fix this?

u gotta like hold the unlock and lock button til the horn sounds, while the key is set to on, and the e-brake is pulled

then let air out of the front left until the horn sounds

then the front right until the horn sounds

then the rear right until the horn sounds

then the rear left until the horn sounds

its in ur owners manual somewhere

yea, they have the let air out procedure. Im just saying, itd be alot easier just if your in the area of a dealer, to have them relearn the procedure there. Hell itll take literally 30 seconds, you dont even have to go farther then the parking lot.

yea, i wasnt trying to be a smartass. i was serious, if you stop by, just tell them that the sensors werent re-learned, and then they come out with the kent-moore tool and youll be on your way in under a minute.

FYI, you only need to let air out for about 8 seconds, it just takes the TPMS about 30 seconds to recognize the change in air pressure. That way you aren't letting a ton of air out. At least this is how it worked on mine.

I barely let any out of my tires. Maybe 2 or 3 seconds tops and it still worked.

Well however you do it, make sure youve set your tires to compensate for the temperature. Remember a 10deg F temp change equals a 1psi pressure change. SO if its 60 degrees today, but it gonna be 20 for the rest of the week make sure you put 4lbs extra in. Same goes for if ou set tire pressure after driving the car more than about a mile, make sure you set them to at least 2psi over the cold temp, otherwise when they cool down the monitor will go off

Nope. They are a pain in the ass IMO and just another stupid safety device for people who are too lazy to do normal routine maintenance. I just check my tire pressure every 2 weeks or so. Not very hard.

How are they a pain in ass?

No its not to hard to check your pressure every two weeks, but its a lot easier to check the DIC display everyday.

So you guys know the tps only needs to see a 1-2 psi pressure drop to learn the position.

I had my tires rotated when I had the oil changed, everything seemed ok.
Then I got a message from On-Star about a low tire, and found out that the locations were off.
I went back to the dealer, it only took a few minutes, but I still don`t understand how a tech could forget about the monitoring system.
I`m sure that some portion of the charge was based on that procedure, I would`ve asked for a free rotation/raincheck, but who knows what may happen next time.

Most dealers didnt update their pricing to reflect the additional procedure of relearning the TPMS, and most dealers dont have techs do oil changes and tire rotations. For example at my shop for instance unless you ask for someone in particular, if you just come in for an oil change and tire rotation theres a 90% chance that the 70yr old lube tech will get the job, and he cant figure out TPMS to save his life. I either do it if he remembers to ask me, or he doesnt even bother.

Hardly the case. I check mine every two weeks as it is. However, when I ran over a nail, the TPMS alerted me long before visual signs or my next pressure check. TPMS definitly FTW by saving my $200 tire.

brigidey, no offense but ya the tpms sensors do alert you rather quickly but if you were doing your quick visuals around the car before you get in like your supposed to and granted i don't always do them and the like, but those visuals do what the tpms' do as well.

A vehicle walkaround doesnt help you find stuff youve run over while vehicle is driving........

You cant check tire pressure by looking at tires. FAIL
