Disabling autolocks.

The autolock feature is officially pissing me off. I know that newer GM's don't allow you to disable it through the DIC.

In the morning when I back the car out of the garage, it locks them and then I have to unlock to get out and close my garage door, and in general I'm a grown up and can decide when I want to lock my doors.

My question is: Can the dealer kill this for me through BCM programming? If not, are there any other brute force options that keep the locks intact otherwise.

there's 2 little things that annoy the f... out of me. The auto door lock and that you can't set it to be in competitive mode when you fire it up. Never fails go to take a corner a little fast punch the go pedal and the frickin traction control kicks in 'cause you forgot to change it. ( nothin like good rant!!)

And the after market alarm would probably do the trick!

You need to drive out of your garage at a speed of less than 5mph, then the doors wont lock.

Alright, I'll be sure to keep it under 5

Seriously though, what does GM do for fleet/taxis? Surely they don't autolock.. that would annoy a lot of taxi drivers.

Would really like to avoid the use of an aftermarket alarm. I never lock my car when I park anyway, ... always rathr someone just open the door than break a window if they REALLY want something!

i hate the auto lock also and the fact that u cant just pull the inside handle on the front doors and they'll unlock and open...maybe cuz it a coupe..... do the 4 door front doors unlock and open when u pull the inside handle. my 2000 jeep did (it had to be in park) i loved it and i didnt care about the auto lock on it because i didnt have to push the damn button to unlock them.

In reading the service manual it appears to be a BCM personlization feature. This appears that you will need the tech 2 to fix.

Automatic Door Lock Operation
This BCM controlled feature can be personalized to driver preference.

The BCM will automatically lock the vehicle doors if the following conditions exist:

• All vehicles doors are closed.

• The ignition is in the ON position.

• The vehicle is shifted out of PARK.

The BCM will then unlock the doors when the ignition is placed in the OFF position.

I would love to disable the AutoLock feature. That's one thing that really bugs me about this car.

I drove a Buick with the AutoLock feature, but being as it's an auto trans, it UNlocks the doors when you put the trans in Park. I wish the manual trans cars would UNlock the doors when you set the Parking Brake.

As for your 'backing out of the garage' situation, I can only suggest that when you back out, don't fully close the door. Just enough to catch it on the first latch. You'll probably get a chime and a 'door ajar' light on your dash, but it's only until you get out of the garage.

Thanks for posting this.

I will call my dealer on Monday and see if they'll set this for me. I'd also not mind if they could disable the auto lights in the BCM too. I don't mind doing the resistor trick, but.... its not very sexy. Thats a whole nother topic though

Must be getting old, I like manual things.

I'll let you guys know what the dealer says and how much they wanna hose me on it

For 2009, at least, the manual, page 2-10, says "Automatic door locking feature cannot be disabled"
Of course, this is in the owner's manual, not the service manual. Gene mentions the Service manual, which probably has stuff we don;t have access to through the DIC.
What you can do, if it's not already set, is to set your doors to unlock when the ignition is turned off, page 3-56.

Yes, that is what I see in the GM Service Manual. I'm sure it will be easier to understand when someone looks at it with the Tech 2.

Ever drive in / out of parking garages etc all day? Very obnoxious having the lights constantly cycling on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/o.. you get the picture Like I said, I'm a pretty savvy guy... I can turn on/off items on my own.

Its so weird owning this car and having it do all this. My wife has a 2008 Yaris and Toyota (THANKFULLY) didn't/doesn't feel the need for all of this automatic nonsense.

like sport08 said if you pulled the handle and the door opened, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Talked to mechanics at all three of the major GM dealers in town. They all claim that this is NOT a configurable option through the Tech2.

Unless someone has any other ideas OR a specific techdoc#, ... I'm going for the manual route here soon

I have to see the wiring diagram(s) for the car first, but a well placed diode will most likely stop it. I dunno we'll see when my service manuals arrive.

I figure if my house has made it 108 years with out one, it can continue to do so.

You might even be shocked to know I don't have central air

Either way I want my car to suck ass a lot less, and this is one of the areas it sucks major ass.
