just recently found out from the machine shop the "upgraded high performance" head gasket Dave sells for $150 is nothing more than the $50 OEM gasket with a spray on sealer. Dave also confirmed this after I asked about it. I can understand an upcharge of a sort for time & materials but 3 times the amount doesn't seem right in my opinion. Just FYI...
***UPDATE: Dave contacted me to resolve my concern in a fair way for both parties***

Instead of thanking me for giving you heads up so you don't spend money on something you don't need, you try to bash my post? and secondly a thin layer hi-tack isn't worth $100 and just because they are not a vendor, doesn't mean people don't buy parts from him...
I'm not one to judge a store on their prices, nor did ever show interest in buying one. So you have not helped anything by just making 3 threads bitching about the price they decided to charge
Probably because he's complaining and posted this on multiple forums and Dave wants to make him happy. I can almost guarantee you won't see a good review for that though because 99% of people don't voice how when shops do good.
I can't say I've always had 100% great luck with him in the beginning, but after talking to him he has always done me a good job.
Great then get rid of the other threads you posted about the same thing. And here is some advice- be a man and talk to him about it before airing dirty laundry on here because it makes you look like a whiner who can't take care of things on your own.

He is refunding me because I'm upset about the fact that I was up charged 300% for a spray coating on a OE head gasket that was described as a high performance street/race head gasket which is incorrect
I talked to Dave about my concern and it went nowhere till i made post on all the forums...

Now if he took an or gasket and didn't do anything to it your point might be more valid. Or when I do transfer rebuilds that I send out to wpc....my cost is xxxx.xx on certain gear sets. so I up charge it quite a bit and I tack on shipping. Technically wpc is just a blasting process right?????? Its like every other process and it costs the same as buying sand at home depot and blasting a gear set right??????? Wrong. So I shouldn't charge anything more then a bag of sand right? Wrong
I get your point but your point is also invalid. It's his product he can charge what you want and technically he shouldn't have to refund you as you bought his version of an upgraded product.
I think the point he was trying to make is that he would have liked to have known exactly what he was buying, an OE gasket with adhesive sprayed on. The product page makes it seem like it's an entirely different gasket.
Sure if you want to look at it that way. Just playing Devils advocate here

I think its fair that you paid what you paid. Perhaps this case is a little 'tricky', as I do see the obvious factor of simply modifying a simple part... but all of the competing part vendors have some similar crap somewhere down the line; simply lightly modified stock parts or even rebranded cheap chiwanese parts. What'chu gonna do, make your own, source it the hard way, or just buy what they made by streamlining the process for you and taking out the guesswork?
He said he tried to handle it personally.
The days of screwing people over and getting away with it are getting harder and harder with the internet.
Sure people only leave negative reviews but that's why honesty and customer service are key.

I had different 'issues', mainly communication/time working on my car, but in the end he really worked for me and we agreed on a price much lower than i originally anticipated. Some customers wonder aloud how Pwerks makes any money considering how many hours go into some of their projects.
Guess we know how now though
