Does anybody regret getting an F40?

And why? I'm seriously thinking of buying ZZP's F40 kit with the upgraded axles after I do suspension. I already need a stronger clutch with just intake, high flow cat, and Trifecta tune. I'd probably break the F35 since I intend to add power. I want to go ZFR or Z54 eventually and there's no way I won't want to run the 1/4-mile with it. It makes the most sense to just get the F40 now. What the heck, I turn 40 this year. Is that a sign?

I like mine only issue with zzp right now is that they use a tone ring for the speed sensor on the Jack shaft and that doesn't accurately record miles, gas mpg and a few other things

Does that apply when using the Regal trans? Their site says "Saab trans only". I would be buying the full kit with the Regal trans since I don't intend to separately source an F40.

I just asked last week about it and I was told that was wrong and they send that for the regal trans aswell and that's what I'm currently running at one point I'm going to do what ottp and Jason Perroto do and machine the sensor hole in the trans so that the F35 speed sensor fits inside the trans and everything works as it should. And while the trans is out install lsd

Love my f40 and the regal trans vss is mounted on input shaft like f35 so everything should work correctly unlike the f40 Saab but Saab gearing is better then regal. Regal has better case but if you combine the 2 Saab gearset in a regal case you will have a superior trans fitting it with lsd you'll be very very happy especially if your a turbo car

So I'd have to add LSD. Didn't think about that. There's no way I'm installing an open differential.

To what I've seen and heard it's not that difficult to install the lsd but if you dont want thru all the hassle I think ottp sells the trans with everything already as well as Jason (b3design on Facebook aswell)

The OTTP kit looks a bit different, but yeah, the Quaife LSD option looks good. Who is Jason?

Jason on here is something like LNFWagonSS as his name. He is a good dude. Ask him about the strengthened f35 he does.

wait....did I read right? need a stronger clutch with a few bolt ons and tricrapta tune? im thinking you may need a driver mod not a stronger clutch cause stock clutch should hold that crappy tune just fine. No offence but trifecta has become one of the worst tunes out there for the balt. but if ur gonna upgrade the turbo, u will need something better. just get clutch with whatever trans u get. id go with ottp kit if I was you, or if Jason sells em, could get it from him. I wouldn't bother with having him build you something if ur in a hurry, waiting list is long. if ur not in a hurry, get on the list now.

For sure, I need to stop trying to roll into the throttle in 5th on the interstate instead of down shifting to make passes. I don't have clutch slip under normal circumstances when it's warmer than 35F. I've put a number of passes at the drag strip with this thing in 70s temps and it grabs just fine. I just don't like that it slips at all. But yeah, the driver needs to be more mindful.

Thanks for all of the input. It's looking like close to $5k for what I want. I'll kick this around while I take care of some other things, like upgraded intercooler, charge pipes, and radiator. If I didn't have a BMW that I intend to compete with, there would be nothing to kick around. What can I get for a used F35, a few hundred? Assuming I don't break it

Funny when you think about it, you can get a whole car for around the price of the trans update done right. Are any of you F40 guys seeing an increase in gas mileage? My 4.45 is a real treat on the interstate noise wise lol.

I know, a $5k trans in a car that I might be able to get $7k for. Here is an example near me that's cheaper than an F40 upgrade. https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto...838367940.html

I havent seen much tbh I'm getting around 20mpg on e47 but half my commute requires me to go up the mountain so much of my mpg goes there

I do. I hated driving a car that everyone else has. So I traded her in for the Cobalt.
