drag tire?

would I be better to run a 205/40-17 mickey thompson street radial that is 8.5 inches wide and 23.5 inches tall. Or a 26/7-17 drag slick that is 7 inches wide and 25.5 inches tall. remember I am tuned so I think the extra height isnt going to effect me to much, and is going to stick way better than the radial but the radial will gain more top end to make up for some spinning it may do at the line. Any opinions.

i would go slicks if you have a good clutch and axles,if not get a good drag radial.

I know people have DR's for their SS/TC, but I still cant seem to find any. I cant find any that fit perfectly for the SS/TC, or do I look them up under a different size tire besides stock?

Ok I will probably be getting the 205/40-17 street radial tires within a couple weeks.

i have bfg dr's 225 45 17's they work pretty good but like a 25 or 26 10.5 would be amazing ud need extended wheel studs depending on the track and if they acually go by the rules

do you know anything about drag tires? a 26/10.5 is NOT good for these cars.

You think I didnt know that??? That is why I said I need a "REAL" DR!!

EXsoccer1921 06-01-2009 12:26 AM

i took your statement as being sarcastic and meaning "these are imitation drag radials" as if you bought them thinking they were.

cmiller8006 06-04-2009 12:46 AM

I was just about to pull the trigger on the drag radials but, I was looking at the height and weight on the two tires. the height of the drag radial is 23.5 but it weighs 20 lbs. The slicks are 25.5 inches and only weighs 13 lbs. so my question now is, is the less weight of the slick going to be better than the less height of the radial or vice versa?
