Drove the HHR SS/TC Today!!!

Not really that impressed, well granted it was a GAY Automatic!! So i let the fiance drive it, and it really turbo lagged bad, would not take off, didnt know if it was because of the automatic, or if it was just cold. So I dont know what was going on with it, but overall not impressed at all, the seats could have been better also, but that could just be because i love my Recaros, i like the design of them but the comfort i dont know, there not bad, but not good either, overall i hope the cobalt turns out a lot better car, so we will see

the exterior styling I will give that to GM. That is impressive, considering the ground effects and the redesigned bumpers make it really stand out, and the intercooler right in the bumper grille, so that is definately an A++++

anthonyS88 01-26-2008 07:18 PM

the cold should have made it faster... what was the sticker on it?

NVMYCOBALTSS 01-26-2008 07:19 PM

We bought an 06 HHR last year, the LT2 model... it is comfy as hell for a long trip. The only thing I don't care about is that I havent figured out how to turn the traction control off for snow drivin... that sucks goin through the hills with it on in the snow.

UmeNNis 01-26-2008 07:20 PM

Maybe he meant that the vehicle was cold.

JonyyB 01-26-2008 07:20 PM

pics??

lindstromderek 01-26-2008 07:22 PM

sticker was 26,000 Dollars, that was with the 1,000 dollar add on for the AUTO, kinda steap

sorry no pics, but will snap some later as the dealership is right down the street from me

UmeNNis 01-26-2008 07:23 PM

ehhh yea you can get better deals than that. Whittle em down ;)

ps you are lucky - my dealership didn't even know there was such a thing as an SS HHR  I even talked to 3 salesman there! 2 of them flat out told me I was wrong to begin with hahaha.

lindstromderek 01-26-2008 07:27 PM

yeah they had it on there lot, i know most of the salesmen there, but the guy that came out and originally helped us, didnt know anything about it, and noone else in there knew anything about the cobalt ss/tc, yeah it was a steap price but i wasnt interested anyways in the HHR, as one it was and automatic, and 2 its an HHR

Onyxd04Redline 01-26-2008 07:39 PM

I don't understand why everyone thought the HHR SS was going to be fast.

I've driven one with just G85 and 5spd and it wasn't impressive at all. It fell on it's face after 5000rpm.

One click on the e-brake or put it in L

NVMYCOBALTSS 01-26-2008 08:08 PM

Tried the putting in L... the dic says low traction and the throttle reduces like you are not on the gas to stop the spinning... There is a way to turn it off, I just have to read up on it.

The auto has 25 less hp than the stick.

Auto = more drivetrain loss + turbo lag (in most cars)

I'm sure the turbo setup was intended for a standard.

You didn't take pics?? :(

I Thought The Automatic Was Coming Out After The 5spd?

There are two at my local dealer...I didn't know people were that interested in em...I figured they'd be more roomy than they are...

The only ones I have seen are auto...and the lil cute intercooler is cute:lol:

The one my dealer had was 5spd but they wo uld not let me drive it...it was the burnt orange color.

That and I have heard that if the car is brand new and not pasts its break in period it wont respond the best.

Rallyracer and myself checked a auto one out Saturday. They are nice, but yuck sloshmatic. I would consider it if it wasnt $24k+, i kinda like having all that storage room. You sit high in them, but theres a couple inches of room to drop it on some coilover/springs. the rear latch is button operated too, it was weird at first touching it hahha
