Exclamation EcoTec Engine Good Enough

I work in a shop and I want to ge the SS/TC but some of the mechanics are saying that the EcoTec engine won't be able to handle the strain of the Turbo. I don't know if he's saying this because he doesn't like GM and wants me to buy his Grand Marquis or because it's true. Has anyone heard of this problem or anyone had this problem with the SS/SC?

lol the strain of the turbo the car is made for the turbo haha.... I mean some upgrading will have to be done when you start gettin more hp out of the car but thats normal.... And yes the ecotech needs more upgrades to be just as fast as some cars because they have weak spots

If the engine could not handle the turbo I promise you GM would NEVER put it in a car that they would have to warranty. The guy is just trying to sell you his car.

yup.. wont stand up to it.. the engine will fail at 2,000 miles. GM deterimined that they would put out a new car that cannot pass thier 100k mile warranty..

(note: sarcasm)

sounds a little fishy to me. i'm sure that gm has tested and retested the ss/tc to make it realible or they wouldn't put there name on it. sure it will be a great car,.

The engine is solid, it's the tranny that we run into problems with.

Holy crap, someone is SUPER gullable! The ecotec motor is more than capable of handling that tiny little turbo that is on it! Now like anything stock parts have their limits but so does a Grand Craprix

Yer boy obviously doesn't know much about the ecotec. Maybe he should meet up with some Sky/Solstice owners. They'll tell him their cars rock...and they're still running. The ecotec is not perfect (what motor is?) but its a pretty damn good one. Just cuz this guy is a mechanic doesn't mean he knows **** about what he's saying. Unfortunately, I've known some real dumb-**** mechanics.
