Eibach Sportlines
Eibach Sportlines
Will these springs hurt my handling? I have heard various things being that it may hurt the handling of my SS/TC... I heard Pedders will drop it slightly, and not harm handling.
Reason I'm asking is because I can get a set of Sportlines that were on my boy's SS/SC for $100 installed.
Thank-you guys!

I had sport-lines for 12,000miles, the ride quality is awful, and they lead to pre-mature strut and shock failure....most people dont even realize there equipment is blown, till the removal of the springs.
Get pedders.
Get pedders.
Yeah, the eibachs lower the ride and it looks nice but they ride really rough and cause premature wear. The pedders lower the car slightly but they actually help improve some handleling characteristics.

Yea I am with everyone else. My Sportlines are pretty rough now. Probably need new struts/shocks
Never used the Pedders, but heard nothing but good from them.

eibach sportlines definately worsen the ride and the handeling on lnf struts. only springs that will make the car handle better on stock struts are pedders and the pro kit. pro kit gives you no drop at all really and the handeling still isnt good. if your looking for low with good handling go with coilovers.
For me, they are ok, I had them on the car before I hit 1000 miles so can't say the difference between the two. Less harsh ride than my old ZX3 with aprox. the same drop and that was aftermarket struts and springs. As far as handling goes, works great for my daily driver and I've been in a .91 going around a turn and it stuck just fine on the stock tires.
I would say if you are going for looks on a DD go for it. I don't auto x nor have I tried a different spring on the car. But I accomplished what I wanted with the drop "looks" and I'm fine with the handling. I didn't think the Pedders gave enough drop to make it worth it for myself.

Do they hurt handling? In my opinion absolutely not.
However, they have AWFUL ride quality. Meaning you feel bumps/potholes more. Between my Ingalls TD and OTTP stage 2 tranny mounts, i get a lot of vibes and feel most bumps. Sportlines look nice and handle just fine but that's about it.

agreed with the above. I dont think they hurt handling much. its a soft spring, but the car being lowered helps negate some of the springs squishy-negative effects
it is however, far from a performance oriented spring

Sits pretty nice. Not sure if I wanna cough up the money to switch to these from sportlines though lol. I think I just need new struts/shocks lol.
You guys realize that the sportlines were not meant to be used with a stock strut - base, sc or tc. The spring rate is too high for the strut to effectively dampen. So of course they blow. If you have an aftermarket strut with valving designed for the sportline, it will be a much happier ride and longer lifespan.

From what I've seen there's not too much aftermarket for a lowered cobalt in the way of struts and shocks. I don't know if they have them now, but there wasn't even a shock/strut from Eibach.
On my car, the Sportlines lowered the car .5 in the front and 1.0 in the rear. Anyway it works for me, in my situation and looks good.
Not saying Sportlines are the end-all but I got them in a GB for under $200 shipped.
Also where did you find the best deal on a rack?
I'm riding on Sportlines now, and I'm thinking about grabbing some SS/TC springs to go with my SS/TC struts and shocks because the Sportlines have some pretty terrible ride. Will the SS/TC springs give me a better ride at a much cheaper price than Pedders? I may just man up and get Pedders but if I can get some SS/TC springs for cheap it might be worthwhile...
