Engine check regarding missing RPD

Hi all,
I sold my RPD and I want to install the mechanical boost gauge. My engine check light went on and the mechanic is telling me that it's the RPD missing. If I just install the mechanical gauge will it fix it or there is something else to be done?
Thank you.

Wheat year is the car?

And no, installing a mechanical boost gauge is not going to fix your issue.

Run the codes and post them up.

So the cars that have the stock mechanical boost, how does the light stay off?

the stock no rpd gauge is not mechanical, its electrical. it is not interfaced to the car as much as the rpd is, rpd tells u all kinda info, which is why it may throw a code. its part of the cars info system. the gauge is not, it just reads boost from the ecu. so it doesn't throw any codes.

No, Cobalts never came stock with a mechanical boost gauge. The OEM boost gauge was an electric unit that pinned a signal from the ECU.

Why did you sell the RPD? It was integrated into the ECU to show the parameters it could. Any number of codes could be thrown because of that. You may need to spend some coin to get the ECU flashed to a non RPD program.

What codes are being thrown?

I sold it because I don't like it, I originally intended to install a triple pod with Autometer gauges, but now the car is for sale, I have the OEM boost gauge from my other 2009 SS that I have, and I will put that OEM gauge on the car that I'm selling and I'll put the triple pod on the car that I'm keeping.
So if I put the OEM boost gauge, it still will not work? Do I still have to get the PCM reflashed?

There is a how to but your going to need a harness and to pin the BCM or ECM (cant recall which)

I finally got the codes from the mechanic
P0499 and P0498 evap codes
P0236 boost out range
P0238 boost sensor out of range
P0098 intake air temp sensor
He says all of them point to the RPD not being there.
As I was saying, I have the OEM electric boost gauge that I would like to install, what does it need to be done to get rid of these codes?
Thank you
