I'm posting this here because I have an LNF and am trying to plan for a clutch job in the next year. Which engine support bar did you guys buy? Is the harbor freight bar good enough, or is it crap, like most of harbor freight's stuff? Sears bars look good but they are also hella expensive. Thanks.

Ive got the KentMoore factory one (thats REALLY expensive ) And the Matco/Sunex/ATD version which I think is what Sears sells. Its a fairly decent piece but honestly as much as I hate chinese **** the HF version is pretty decent, just get it.

As Maven mentioned I have the Matco/Sunex fixture and its damn handy. It'll hold up a 3.6 v6 engine/trans with no problems.

For infrequent use the harbor freight piece will probably work.

^^ This. The Harbor Freight stuff is usually a relatively nice product for the money (they have gotten better over the years IMO) and it's good for use a few times or every once in a while. For repeated use, it's better to stick with the name brand tools/equipment mentioned above.

I used the Harbor Freight one as you can see in the clutch guide I worked on. It is rated to 1000lbs and to be honest, I can see it handling that load easily. It's quite a nice piece.

I haven't had trouble from ANY of my Harbor Freight stuff. All good tools so far.

what do you define as infrequent?
sslobalt and I plan to do our clutches with these so we want to make sure we pick up good stuff.

Infrequent use is like personal use. You know, use it a few times a year or something. As opposed to say a technician that does clutches on a weekly basis, and uses it constantly. That kinda thing.

What he said. Granted I don't use my support all that often but when I do its there. And I got it for $150 on a promo so it was worth it.

It's seriously a nice piece. No regrets buying it (HF one).
