Tonight was my first night at the local drag strip had a blast. My best run was 9.7@77mph.1/8mile. Not to bad i dont guess. Anyway had a blast my car is stock ive got a k&n cold air intake and forge bpv coming next week. Thank that will make me any faster?

I thought the k@n was supposed to add like 12hp is that not true? Cause that would have to make a little diff. Being my car only has 260 stock?

 

Nope, modding without a tune on these motors benefits nothing. The computer has a learn-down feature and will remain at stock levels until tuned.

Just a tune wakes these up significantly. It's night and day.

 

FWIW, yes it won't make any extra peak power though it still has the potential to spool faster and have a better powerband/numbers under the peak adding mods to a stock tune TC..

 

this. your powerband will be better. a stock tune ss/tc with bolt ons will walk a bone stock ss. even with the learn down shyt.

 

I have video proving a bone stock SS will walk a modded SS that doesn't have a tune.

 

im glad you took it to the track... with some practice youll be alot faster. and if you want some power just get the tune

 

I ran a 14.0 stock, after I tuned it and an exhaust, I ran a 13.2. A tune will bring out all the power!

I ran 9.1@85 wheel hoping 1st and 2nd with a 2.4 60ft This was the only time I had been to a track ever

 

the only annoying thing is learning how to drive at the strip all over again
i am still working on bringing my times down now that i am tuned
i do so much better stock

There are vids out there of stock SC's getting beat By stock RSX-S's. ..Not all drivers are equal.

 

Let's see a vid of stock TC's since that's the section this was posted in. :-)

 

To many variables to say this will always be the case. Drivers come into play and the car's themselves . Some cars are just stronger than others from the factory ..... there are monday motor's and friday motor's ....some have tighter spec's than others .

If you took a poll of 50 cars ... 25 bone stock and 25 with bolton's .... I bet the bolton cars would average faster times.

 

I ran a 14.2-14.4 stock with nothing at all.

Bolt ons with no tune I ran 14.0-14.2.

I now have a little tune that makes 300whp with my bolt ons... might go to the track today but Im real worried the clutch wont make it. so I dont think I will run the car. Jeremy, Alex will be running his Evo with slicks tonight.
