x2. I haven't heard of any recall for the front rotors or the charge piping. I even tried searching on NHTSA's website.

it wasnt exactly the charge piping that was the problem, it was a bolt holding a bracket or something the rubbed the cold side piping and could cause it to wear a hole in the piping. i just pulled the bolt out and used a dremel with a cutting blade and chopped the bolt about 1/2 inch shorter.

o no, I know what you're talkin about with the charge piping now, That happened to mine about 1000 miles into it.. I came up with a MAF fault an took it in, they replaced it, put a different bolt and some washers and said they've been having lots of problems with em. I didn't know there was a recall tho… Wat about the rotors tho? My local dealership is stupid and all about money so if I say somethin about rotors they're just gonna replace em and charge me later.. so….

Here it is! This one has been out for awhile...

Cliffnotes: If you're under the 3/36k warranty and the last 8 digits of your VIN fall between 87229258 and 87338792 you'll have your front rotors replaced for free. But only if it hasn't been done before.

#08242: Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - Steering Wheel Vibration - Replace Front Brake Rotors - (Aug 11, 2008)

Subject: 08242 -- Service Update for Inventory and Customer - Steering Wheel Vibration - Replace Front Brake Rotors - Expires with Base Warranty

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.

Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the front brake rotors on certain 2008 model year Chevrolet Cobalt SS vehicles. This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in DealerWorld (US), or attached to the Dealer Communication (Canada), used to release this bulletin. There is no recall for the front rotors. This is why they don't publish these TSBs to every owner, because people can't understand them.

I took my 2008 in for the free oil change (sept 2008) and they did the front rotors.
What ever the problem was they fixed it before the 2009 came out.

The upper charge pipe TSB was for the '08 and part of '09 to replace the mounting bolt that mounted the upper charge pipe to the engine block. They replaced the bolt with a bolt/clip combination.

The lower charge pipe TSB was for the radiator support bolt that portruded through the frame and could possible contact the lower charge pipe and rub a hole in it. They just removed the bolt.
