Getting A Correct Tune
Getting A Correct Tune
Alright guys so the car has been in the garage nice and warm and I completely cleaned the inside. Seats out. Shampooded and Nurished hahaha
Now for my questions, before I bring it back on the road.. So most of you know I blew my turbo a while back
Well. The turbo swap went fine besides my waste gate sticking open so Matt(zzp) changed that through my tune but I still have the 21 psi base tune.. Ever since getting the tune changed a little to get the wastegate to open up I notice through the rear mirror a nice amount of coal (so I call it haha) while shifting up higher in the rpm's or NLSing lol I feel as if I should get a correct tune for MY car before I begin to drive it again daily.. But then again I have some time because we should be getting hit with about 5-10 inchs in about 5 hours lol
So I guess final question is.. Am I correct? I should get a retune before bringing her out... Real Skepticle lol. I still need to change the plugs and would like to seafoam the car too.. Theres a nice How to.. Just dont need any **** happening

I was actually wondering the same thing. I think it would be smart to make sure its dialed in. Did they give you a canned 21psi tune? I'm assuming since you said it blows a lot of black smoke it is running rich.
inb4 lsj/lnf debate. lol. would b a good idea to get tuned. how long has ur car been sitting since it was last run? or has it been doing this for awhile and ur just now posting about it
getting a dialed in tune is always a good idea. I wouldn't say don't drive the car until then, i'm sure it'll be fine, but getting a retune is certainly something you should have planned.
my car spits smoke too at full throttle but only a puff.
Its normal if you dont drive the car like you stole it every day and then one day you hit the throttle and make smoke. Dont you know about how much oil pools in the intake manifold and intake tube? If anything Its probably dirty oil being burned off lol.

Lol it has been doing it ever since I got the canned tune adjusted for the waste gate rod to open.. But while having blown turbo seals I dripped a **** ton of oil out the ass end ! Cause if you guys have experienced that you blow smoke like a mother ***** at all times .. That's why I said I need to change my spark plugs too. There prolly really shitty. Matt suggested it . But I only drove the car for another 2 months after he did the adjustments so I'm sure My car will be fine .. Just wanna get all the oils changed (transmission too) and plugs swapped out. Still get a retune. no matter what tho I'm getting a retune before it gets a good work out.. But we're getting a ass load of snow right now lol .
you're on the right track IMO. I would think the canned tune would be more conservative, rich is much better and safer than lean. I would look into getting it dyno tuned comes late spring when you pull it out for the summer. until then i wouldnt bother, ambient temps are soo much lower than you will see on average in the summer right now.
