Gms1 waste

I had the GMS1 installed yesterday on long island, the car dealer flashed the motor with the wrong code initally, after getting it all fixed, I got on the car and didnt feel much of a different then stock. Stock I was peakinhg 15 psi and boosting 13-14 psi, with the GMS1 im peaking 21-22 and boosting at 20 psi. The only other mod i have is the K n N drop in air filter. The car does feel a slight bit faster with 2nd and 3rd gear pulls, but for the $750 i spent on the package from crate engine depot($498) and install ($248)I should have gotten a downpipe, catback exhaust, intake, and trifecta tune. Whoever has the GMS1 please leave me your opinion, Id like to see what you think.

1. If you feel its a waste, all information about the gm stage 1 kit has been posted on this site along with user opinions and dynos.
2. I felt a noticeable gain after the kit was installed, not monsterous but noticeable.
3. I think its a worthwhile mod for people looking to retain driveablility, warranty, and especially if autox or road course racing.

I had the gm stage 1 with all stock parts except charge piping and noticed a fairly big difference in power/speed. After a down pipe and intake it keeps getting better. But of course only an aftermarket tune will really suck all the power out of those parts. I also did the install of the sensors my self and paid minimal amount for the flash.

Well obviously you would gain better results with a downpipe, catback exhaust, intake, and trifecta tune, but you get GMS1 if you want warrenty. If you expected GMS1 to beat all that your insane. I felt a pretty noticeable gain with GMS1, but I wasn't expecting it to feel like a 100 shot of N2O

1st gear doesn't build enough boost. You'll never max boost on any turbo car in first gear.

3rd and up is where it's at. If you can't tell the difference between stock and gms1, then there's something terribly wrong, with either the car or driver.

If I would have known the sensors would have been available so quick for so cheap I would have foregone the GMS1 and went straight to Trifecta.

Op going from stock to GMS1 is a very noticeable difference. You went from roughly 235-245 whp/wtq to 275whp/wtq (actually probably more torque). Plus you picked up a higher redline and you get to keep your warranty.

There is a huge difference. It is so much more responsive. For being able to KEEP THE WARRANTY and it just being a factory tune, I was pretty impressed. Kudos GM. Think about this, most of us Paid 19-22k +$800 (GMS1) for a COBALT that will do ~13.5 1/4mi. That is relatively fast for a Daily Driver. They have a 5 year /100,000mi Warranty and I don't have to worry about a dealer voiding the warranty for a DP, Tune, or CAI. Worth it. I'll Mod it in 5 years when it doesn't matter anymore....well 4 now

Since most people still take the chance of having warranty issues by installing aftermarket stuff WITH the GMS1, I don't see how it's worth it in any way, shape, or form. Just go Trifecta if you're not going to remain fully stock, otherwise.

Sounds like something may still be wrong. There should be a very noticable difference in how your car pulls compared to stock. If you look at the link in my sig, I posted dyno before GMS1 and after. I picked up over 40whp and 70wtq.... although its not as aggressive as some aftermarket tunes, thats still not something you dont feel lol

I had my GMS1 installed in November and when it got cold out (I'm in Florida remember), but I would light those tires up until 3rd, and I could NOT have done that stock... I have my dyno posted somewhere around here, but I made 277whp & 301wtrq up from 238whp & 241wtrq stock....
