gmtunersource production numbers VS compnine

I can't believe everybody just browsed over this post from another thread...

There are 1 2009 COBALT LEVEL 4 PERF (SS) 2 DR vehicles (0.033%) matching your exact options list.
1/553 Canadian 2009 Cobalt SS coupes
1/244 Rally Yellow 2009 Cobalt SS coupes
1/836 R.P.D. opted 2009 Cobalt SS coupes

Notice that CompNine has about double (plus four) of the total for 2009 Rally Yellow SS coupes??
it says that there are 3,040 2009 Cobalt SS coupes...

Anyone here able to explain this??

EDIT:

Ok, I took this a couple steps further using all the vin information in this very thread.

According to the most up to date information on Comp Nine this is what our production numbers and colour breakdowns look like:

2008 SS coupe
Black (41U) - 790
Imperial Blue Metallic (37U) - 211
Sport Red Tintcoat Metallic (29U) - 188
Ultra Silver Metallic (95U) - 157
Victory Red (74U) - 283
Rally Yellow (34U) - 137
----------------
1,766
(listed model total 1,675)

2009 SS coupe
Black (41U) - 1,271
Imperial Blue Metallic (37U) - ?
Summit White (50U) - 203
Sport Red Tintcoat Metallic (29U) - 285
Silver Ice Metallic (17U) - ?
Victory Red (74U) - 540
Rally Yellow (34U) - 244
-----------------
2,543 so far
(listed model total 3,040)

2009 SS sedan
Black (41U) - 275
Imperial Blue Metallic (37U) - 55
Summit White (50U) - 64
Sport Red Tintcoat Metallic (29U) - 115
Silver Ice Metallic (17U)- 134
Victory Red (74U) - 80
Rally Yellow (34U) - 36
-----------------
759
(listed model total 759)
Does anybody have any ideas on this? Only thing I can think of is if maybe gmtunersource.com only did US cars and not Canadian cars???

ohh and thanks soundjunky for compiling that data, I ran my vin on compnine and was like "Hey cool all 284 victory red cobalts for 2008 were SS models" and then it hit me how gmtunersource only said 192...

Still only 800 sedans this **** really is rare , I have NEVER seen another sedan since I owned it in September of 2008 or at least a for sure identification and believe me I am ALWAYS looking too.

The only other one I know around here is owned by local ecotec club members , ones yellow ones black (import killers) car.. So is that right only 759 sedans in the states ?

I think I'll keep it a while ....

But wouldn't you rather know you have 1 out 474 sedans?

I just ran a 1991 GMC syclone's vin on compnine and it said 6735 for production with the RPO ZR9 "SYCLONE" PERFORMANCE PACKAGE SYCLONE. Numorous sources only report 2995 for 1991 GMC Syclone production. Just would like to know what gives? Somebody's math isn't adding up...

Jeeze I would hate to be in your shoes... worst case scenario you're 1 out of 36? If I were you, I'd probably trade it in on a V6 mustang... you know something a litte more rare

Well my car isnt rare... I went to the track last last friday and I parked behind the bleachers.... well an hour later I see another 09 yellow SS sedan coming pulling up next to me and park. then he walked around my car all eyeing it up.

Another css.net member here, rallycobalt06, walked over to me and said "what are the chances" lol. I knew he was there somewhere but didnt see him walking around.

The plates on the other yellow ss sedan were from North Carolina. and yes he's a member on here, we went and talked to him lol

he doesnt post much.

I believe I saw another Yellow TC sedan on here from Florida as well.
I know there's a couple other Sport Red TC sedans on here too. It's rare enough in this town, the ONLY TC whatsoever in this town.

Man i remember when i went to the dealer to buy my car they had 3 09 SS there My black coupe. A yellow ss sedan and a sport red tint coupe and i almost bought the yellow sedan cause it was so different till i was on the test drive with the car i bought and the salesman said they took the yellow sedan to a race track and raced it around there and it handles great. So i was like well i dont want a new car thats been beat on already so i bought the black one. Oh and the sport redtint car was about one grand more than mine.

lets hold out till we hear back from gmtunersource before we assume that compnine is correct.

But yes even at 36, the yellow sedans are the ones to have. If you are going to hold to it for awhile anyways.

I don't think people really understand the stats here. Given that there are SO MANY possible combinations available...including smog certs...it's very possible that any given VIN will only *match* 100% on those *options/specs* 1/100 or less. In fact, I think that ONE of the *match criterion* may also include CARS MADE ON THAT DAY as well? If so, your car is 1 in a million. Bottom line..don't pay attention to it..it's meaningless.
Having said this, I found out my car had LSD from this web site! So, it does tell you what your car has on it.

Very true, if you look at the over all stats my 1999 2dr s10 blazer is actually "more rare" than my 2008 victory red cobalt ss. But we are trying to figure out just comparing color and year why we are seeing some color/year combos more than double what was reported to us through gmtunersource

Sounds to me like there was a reporting issue either with gm or the website you used!

Using this analogy is like saying a GMC Syclone or Typhoon is just a damn S10/S15/Jimmy...
