Or get a set of Used rear shocks, install then and put the car down, then weld the strut rod to the housing, should work.

all they did was put in a rear set of shocks and said the front was fine. sounds weird to me but the car handles better.

I don't get it...you mean they can't improve on the fronts?
Anyway...so they will have a rear application for the TC? I have Koni Yellow sport shocks on the rear only and they do handle better than the stock shocks.

are they adjustable, preferable without pulling them off the car?

Softened my rear konis another half turn tonight. Jack, jack stands, pull the wheels unbolt shocks, compress, turn, reinstall, wheels back on, lower car, torque wheels. not the funnest.

Yes...I set them 1 turn from soft and they were way too stiff. I have Pedders on as well.
Now have them just a 1/4 turn off soft and they're perfect.

They are not adjustable. They will be selling the rears, they didnt fit specifically for our cars. They used shocks from an Opel car and couldnt fit the shocks on the front. I like the set up alot more, the car is more fluid in turns with out the back swinging out.

Stick with Konis. Koni + Pedders + big rear bar = perfect daily driver that kicks ass on track.

The car is stable, but still rotates. No more undulation from side to side. Also, the shock dyno that I have says the Koni rears are better :P Still waiting on the fronts.

I don't know where this myth of Konis sucking came from, but it's wrong.

Koni makes great shocks and struts there only problem is price at least for a f body they were over double what my KYB AGX adjustables cost maybe not as good bit for a weekend toy I rather have a good set of shocks and sway bars rather than spending all the money on just shocks

I don't think they'll be a significant improvment over the sport Konis.

Exact same route I took, 1/4 from full soft seems really good so far. Good to see someone came to the same conclusion.

kyb=junk. you want to talk about a good setup on the f-body stano springs on konis for a street cruiser and some handling or afcos if your dragging.

Since Bilstein is a Germany company (part of ThyssenKrupp AG) they probably sourced a set of shock from the Opel Astra which shares the Delta platform with the Cobalt. I'd be curious if they removed the stock suspension, measure spring rates, and put both the stock shocks and struts on a suspension dyno. If they did and were trying to source upgraded dampers that work better with the stock springs then perhaps the fronts, at least stock and as a set of spring and strut are well matched. GM did do a pretty good job on the suspension tuning.

Wasn't JBP's coil-over kit made with bilstein shocks? 5 years ago?

The Bilsteins make the Dampening Progressive. heres exactly what they're using:

P-Type Mono-Tube, Multi-Dampening/Auto-Adjusting Bilstein Insert for the front and a Bilstein B055 for the rear

The guy told me that their is not a high interest in their parts in the cobalt world. I was hoping for more... sorry guys. The shocks do make a difference though, ride is the same as stock but it handles better.

I know what Dennis thinks of them. I've read his site for years. I actually had my stock shocks dynoed. The rears are very run of the mill $5 parts.

In the end he still recommends them, and I've always had great support from Koni, especially people like Lee Grimes. I spent no fewer than 30 emails talking to him about the Cobalt, and showing him all the misinformation being spread.
