The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications

Order before the end of today (Wednesday) and use the code "ChristmasLights" and save 15%

I'll just say it again, and ALOT of members will disagree, But I HATE seeing people put HID's in stock halogens, Even though they are brighter than stock lighting, They are blinding to oncoming drivers without properly being installed in the proper projectors.

I got the Morimoto 3 full retrofit kit (I think that's what it's called) from MKulrey13. It takes some work to install them, a little bit of grinding on the headlight housing, some wiring... But it's the right way to do it and not just swapping out a bulb or cheaping out on a bulb and ballast kit.

Not to mention illegal. If you don't want to take on the work of a retrofit, I've been happy with the Depo gen IV housings.

And if it's just "the look" you're going for, HID bulbs in reflector housings DO NOT look like what higher end cars have. They look terrible.

Their stock headlights are projectors, not reflectors.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Where did you hear they aren't illegal Alissa? The internet? Do you believe EVERYTHING you read on the internet?

If so, than i'm a French male stripper.

Show me proof in the Highway traffic act or something that they are not illegal. I would love to see it.

The ONLY HID's that are legal for road use, are ones that come factory in projectors, or ones that are PROPERLY installed in aftermarket applications.

Yes, Yes they do... and they are stock PROJECTORS. Not a reflector bowl. How do you know your headlights are not blinding? Are you driving towards your car from a few kilometers away? No, you're not. Damnit I have Naive people.

How they look is your opinion. If the guy/girl wants to put them in, then that is their choice. No need going into every thread about headlights and saying how terrible HID's in stock housings are. We get ur point, you don't like them...

I DO have to do this. As it keeps morons from installing them. So there IS a need. When you build retrofits, There is a huge need.

I do build retrofits so I know the "right" way to do it. But honestly I have buddies who can't afford to have me build them a set and their HID in the stock housing are fine. They don't bother me, nor do they get flashed. And I have been in oncoming traffic with them several times and have never had a problem.

It doesn't keep people from not installing them. They are going to do what they want. The after market headlights for our cars are ugly. The only ones that look good are the stock ones and the retros. And not everyone wants to or can afford to buy retros.

And you wonder why people call you "retarded" "idiot" "stupid" "dumb" and slew of other words that would make a sailor blush.

It's illegal to use HID's in our stock housing period, are you familiar with DOT/NHTSA laws? Department of Transportation / National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, God knows I would have to break that down for you. The DOT makes it clear that HID lights must be installed in an Approved housing, technically our HID retrofits border on the illegal per DOT laws and regulations.

Now this is where things get interesting, it's up to local law enforcement to know the laws, and trust me most cops don't know every single law. Prime example, in WA state, per the state const. it is legal to open carry a pistol on your person, do you know how many people get stopped for this even though they are following the law to the "t" always ends up with the cop getting educated. So with how ever many cars on the road, how are cops to know what cars have approved HIDs and which ones don't? It boils down to if the cops wants to push the issue in most cases.

With that said, please turn off your computer, unplug it from the interweb, wall, and bash your phugly head in please. I seriously get tired reading anything you post, I honestly feel dumber anytime I read something you write. You are awarded zero points and may God have mercy on your soul.
