help with tune for dragstrip

I was wondering what kind of 1/4 mile MPH guys are getting out of basically tune only cars. I have trifecta tune and a catless DP and a short ram and i am getting only 106 with seems low from what i hear. Ran 2 weeks ago in 55 degree weather and ran a best of 13.23 @ 104. Track i ran at is 1000' elevation so i know im not losing too much power because of that. I sent a data log in to get a more aggressive tune and took it back to the track today. I ran 13.26 @ 106 but i feel the car could do alot better. It only has 35k on it and it is my daily driver but i really want to get this thing in the 12's on street tires. Any advice you guys could give me to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated. thanks

Honestly, if you're running 13.2 in the quarter on street tires, that's as good as its gonna get. I'm in the same situation as you. I ran a best of 13.22 @ 107 on streets and I've hit a couple times, but nothing better.

Are you the guy with the Red ss?

slicks for 12's.

the best ive seen a tuned cobalt do (DP,intake, tune) was 13.1 on street tires. he ran his car about 15 times and the 7th run of the day he hit 13.1 and couldnt beat that for the rest of the day.

and he was NLS'ing all the runs too.

I do all my runs without nls. I've managed better times without doing it for some odd reason.

Yeah i am the guy with the red ss. So the people saying they are getting 110-112 mph trap speeds are either full of **** or they have other things done. I am gonna pick up a set of 17" ss wheels to put drag radials on but i want the power to get my trap speeds up. Are most guys running trifecta tunes?

I figured it was you. I'm the one you talked two weekends ago and raced against on the last race.

Ya majority of the people saying their running that high of a mph are not saying everything they have done or are running e. Weird enough, when I wasn't tuned and just running my intake and catless DP, I was trapping 14.2-14.3 @109-110. But seeing as how many times got faster my mph dropped seeing as how I was reaching the quarter line faster. It's weird but once you listen to someone explain it, it makes sense.

Get the 3 bar map sensors and get Vince to tune you for a spike of 25lbs and hold it just as long as you can. I had this tune before my 3bar map sensors and it is a bit more aggressive than what I'm running now but I spun more than anything. You can at least try it and see if you like it though.

You still running the footballs in the rear?

Last summer, on street 17'' Potenza my best was 13.03 @ 113mph... Stock Turbo, Stock Intercooler, Trifecta 91 octane tune at 22psi, Catless DP With Stock Exhaust, K&N SRI and Injen Charge Pipe. For this summer BFG Drag Radial and race gas tune... probably 12.4-12.5...

Do you have a slip for that at all? And are you on stock clutch?

Even though its only .2 in front of my best, I've beat the hell out of my car and can't break my 13.22 @ 107. If you running a newer set up this year why not just run slicks? Chris 2010ss ran 12 flat on stock turbo, E, full bolt ons, and slicks.

Right now I am on stock clutch and I don't have mounts. I do have footballs in the rear. My 60' times are 2.11 to 2.12 every time now. I need some more mph.

Best bet is to get the mounts if you're ok dealing with engine vibrations.

The one run we ran against each other 2 weeks ago, you out ran me cause I missed third. Lol. I looked at the slip afterwards though and your 1/8th mile time was a high 86 while mine were a consecutive low 85 but my trap speed was higher than yours. It's weird and seems like something died off.

hmmm. interesting. you must have a high boost spike or you clutch is holding full power and isn't slipping at all. I was running 110-111 witha good clutch and couldn't manage anything better than 106-107 with my clutch slipping 1/8 mile times even showed my times going from 87 mph to 84-85 every time.

what's your 60' time feather it more or get reduced in 1st and 2nd. or get dr's. these cars are really not "drag cars" they work for that but u have to have them set up for it.

i ran 12.91@ 110 on the stock factory street tires. mods were tune, catless DP, drop in air
filter. had footballs in the rear, and chains up front. i also had a best trap of 112 with
that setup. it was an agressive HP tune. lots of practice, and a well prepped track. need
a raised rev limiter so you can go thru the traps in third gear.

Maybe it has to do with us being at 0ft elevation but I've had 2 people get TF dyno tuned by us (and vince obv) and go run 13.0@110, and oddly they were both sedans

What I need is a 500 dollar suggestion that will get me in the 112+ mph trap speeds. Jerry I am gonna do a data log as soon as I get the k&n short ram on so we can go more aggressive with the tune as well. Is there any benefit to getting 3 bar map sensors and having it tuned for them so I can raise my boost and have a more accurate tune. Yeah and my three consecutive 2.12 60' times are with kuhmo ecsta's and they we're 3rd, 4th, and 5th pass so I can definately get the car down the track. Also if I raise the revlimiter and go through the traps in 3rd what kinda rpm will I be running. And thanks all you guys for the excellent input.
