High Wing Spoiler - Necessary or no?
High Wing Spoiler - Necessary or no?
Kind of curious, those of you that have the high wing spoiler, are you happy you got that as opposed to the stock one? And on the other end of the spectrum, I see tons of pictures ppl posted with a high wing, but does anyone have it in the low rise variation? And if so, do you wish you had gotten the high one? Thanks for any insight!
Well my high mount came stock. My friend has an 05 who had the high mount but he traded the low off of my 1st car, my LS and he likes it better. its all about preference. most people say you can't see out of the back, but i don't have a problem with that and I am 6 foot even. I like the high mount personally.
BTW post pics! I wanna see. Do you have the silver int as well?

High rise sucks. It's flimsy at expressway speeds, blocks everything behind you, and only looks good from a 3/4 view of the car. I traded for a low rise, and would prefer to go wingless if I could find one.
There's tons of SS/SC's with the low rise (which would look the same as an SS/TC with the low rise) because it was an option on '07. The general vibe I get here is that for the SS/SC kit, most people prefer either the high wing or no wing at all.
The car looks silly to me without the bigger wing to go with the extra body kit parts. On a base cobalt or 2.4, that wing looks out of place with no skirts or lips on the car. If you take that wing off of an SS though, it looks funny to me.
The wing looks fine on 2.4's in my opinion, as the rear bumper is the same size as the SS/SC (just of a different style) and it has the same side skirts.
I still cant decide and ive had my car for 2 years . Hi rise looks good from some angles .. low looks good from others but without the hi rise the ss/sc..tc looks like its lacking something. RKsport spoiler FTW.
Does it actually do something for downforce... wait FWD... never mind!
I think it looks pretty good. Gives it some aggressive looks. The low spoiler makes it seem like it's nothing out of the ordinary, sleeper look.

is it helpful? most definately.
its been proven that its the equivalent of having 5 heavy sandbags in your trunk at high speeds, to help keep your ass end planted under heavy braking.
for a road racer, id hardly call that "far from useful"
any spoiler\wing is nearly useless in a day-to-day driving scenario
all depends on how you like your car to look.
swapped my low-pro for a high-rise, first week i had my car. looks best on lower cars though...
i think most would agree that wingless > low pro
as to whether wingless > highrise, or highrise > wingless, it's almost a 50/50 split. personally, I think the car's naked without it.
Edit: I agree with an0m about the road racer part, btw...for a road racer, any extra downforce definately helpful. most people here seem to be drag racers though...which are probably better off without any at all (difference I would imagine, though, is pretty minor in that application.) not to mention, being located higher above the deck, as well as planted behind the rear wheels for leverage, definately would improve stabilility in a road-racing scenario.
