2006 6 speed GTO LS2 6.0L, 400 hp 400 lb/ft of torque. 17/25 gas mileage
2006 Subaru WRX STI 6 Speed 2.0L Turbo 300 hp 300 lb/ft of torque 20/28 gas mileage
2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2.0 Turbo 5 Speed 260 hp 260 lb/ft of torque 22/30 gas mileage
Now, heres the scenario. You are all in the market for a new car and these are your three main choices right now, one being raw straight line power, two being awd handling with descent gas mileage, and three being the FWD econo car with lots of potential. You are 18 years old with no marks on your insurance, got a full ride into college, and will be driving 75% city, 25% highway. Which do you buy and why? OR, what would you buy instead! Go for it

Out of the three you listed the Cobalt. Only because of the warranty. The last thing you need in collage is an expensive repair bill. If that doesn't matter to you then the STI is a better car but make sure you get a pre-purchase inspection. Last would be the GTO because of it's poor snow ability.
Being 18, I think the T/C is the best bet.
Your insurance wont be as high, you'll save more gas when you're not flooring it, and you wont look like you're trying to compensate for anything by having a 6.0L beast of a car.
The STi would also be good, but I'd still pick the T/C.
All of that of course is if I were in your shoes. Just pick the car you want man.

The GTO and STi will KILL you on insurance. If you think you can swing it, then go for the STi. Second pick SS/TC, third pick SS/SC w/ TVS swap, fourth pick GTO.
wow that was quick, but yeah thats pretty much the response I would expect from a forum dedicated to cobalts, not hatin just saying haha. Only reason I threw that LS2 in there is because man that thing sounds sweet, but its going to be a tough desiscion but keep them opinions rolling!
there is still 2 years left on the warrenty

yes, argue with me on the ls4. thats brilliant. 5 year 100k mile on a brand new car. or a used car for the same price.
Based on your age/probable insurance I'd say
1) SS/TC
2) STi
3) GTO
Personally, I'd love to have a either an STi or GTO but I'm young and my insurance is high (not to mention the gas prices). Upgrade once you finish college and get a full time job. Either way, good luck bro!
