It's official, I now own a 2008 cobalt ss/tc! but....

The car is still at the Lordstown plant!!! I got to the dealer at 2:00pm I signed all the paper work, the plates are ready, the insurance is all set, now all that has to happen is for the car to get here!!

I definitly can't complain about the deal, had to sign all the paper work today to guarantee that i get the $1000 bonus cash in addition to the $1500 loyalty bonus in addition to the gms discount. I know some will disagree with this but i bought the gmpp warranty for a total of 5yrs/100k coverage with $100 deductible but received the gm discount on that too and i was not going to buy it but they offered it with a $0 deductible at no additional cost. I had some really bad experiences with 2 brand new gm cars in the past so i talked myself into it. I plan to have this car for the long haul, my current car has almost 111k on it and i am the original owner.

Car is silver, with low rise wing, black on black seats, and LSD as the only option, really tried to give the car more of a sleeper look (one could say the cobalt already has a sleeper look )

And Of course pics will be coming soon (i hope!)

the way the salesman I was talking to put it, as long as it is off the line (doesn't have to be on a truck or anything), you can sign and it won't change

its funny you say that becausei checked out the mitsu web site to take a look at the Evo for the hell of it. i did price a wrx on the lot at a local dealership and got it down to 22,500 with the premium package. i much rather have the ss/tc but the wrx is growing more and more on me as i wait for the ss/tc

AMEN! I cannot imagine signing ANY binding contract (or any REPUTABLE dealer) allowing that to even occur. Signing for that amount of money and /or monthly installments for a car not seen or driven?
That makes it an even WORSE decision than buying vehicles on e-Bay. At least there you get a picture before you get......"kissed." Good Luck with that!

Yeah, something's fishy here. My order was placed over a week ago and in 24 hours we had a build date... June 08'. I know that they've run some pilots down the line, but I'm not so sure that production has even started yet.

OK once again production started on april 7th, pilots in late march. MANY people have had their cars made, they are stuck at the plant or they already got shipped out, due to a vin issue, they should be shipping out now. I talk to a guy at the lordstown ohio plant, so yes they do make them, don't get confused because some dealers have no idea what is going on, probably a good sign to not go back to them.

i like american cars as well, GM to be more eact but its harder to get info on a car from a few states away han a car coming from half way around the world. i love GM vehicles but their dealers are porly informed and their customer service sucks

actually if you look the SORP date was pushed back from the 7th to the 21st due to that issue, so people should base the date off of that day than the 7th

You guys should be greatful GM isnt as bad as Dodge. How many times were the Caliber SRT4 dates pushed back? First it had 300 HP, then it had torque steer problems, then they fixed the torque steer problems, then they reduced it to 280 ish HP, etc...

Took Dodge forver to release that car.

there was no production delay mine was made on time. Some of the first cobalt ss/tc made had a shipment issue with VIN numbers they caught them before they got shipped out and changed everything over, the problem has been solved and the cars should have been shipped out.

You work for GM right? Check out program timing for the ecotec, it went from April 7th to April 21st for the GMX001 LNF.

Trust when i say it, there wasn't a delay i talk to a guy who works at lordstown and the delay was a vin issue, not a delay in engines. Check your event codes as well they will show the same thing they got stuck right before shipment, not inside the plant.

to me it doesnt matter were they were stuck, as my car is still not here. in a week it will be hitting the 8 week mark. i was promised delivery in 6-8 weeks. if there is no delivery by the end of the week, the dealer better deal on the price or keep the car. i want this carif ferrari can give you a build date for a hand made vehicle why cant chevy mass produce a car on time?
