k&n

so my intake finally showed up today(4weeks usps to canada), I was wondering if I have to run the filter provided. I noticed that the hole for the pipe is offset and have never seen that before. I never have and never will like them because there oiled and was wondering if anyone has tried a open end dry flow like an aem, spectre, amsoil etc?

Well with the K&N filter your worried about the oil from the filter messing with the MAF sensor. I know some people were having issues then switched to the AEM dry flow filter and didnt have issues.

You can run whatever filter fits. I've mixed and matched on many setups.

I personally love the K&N filters, they work and are re-usable. You do really have to follow the procedure for cleaning them, to get the excess oil off of them and let them dry fully. If that is done properly they work great. I've cleaned several for my cars and my dad's truck and they all work good with no MAF codes, but it takes a couple hours for them to dry out. Not really practical all the time, but cheaper than a new filter.

20k Kms Is the most I do or 6 months. That's recommended air filter change on a reg car

The filter that comes with the K&N SRI for the LNF was specifically designed that way to help reduce fuel trims from going to far out of whack. That, along with MAF placement and the diameter of the tube as well. Mind you, this is all for a stock LNF.

Tuning should always be done to get the most out of it. Changing the filter will almost certainly require a tune because it might set a MAF code.

The K&N filter isn't bad and the oil has never harmed my MAF and I've never set a MAF code or had one fail. I've used K&N on every car I've owned with 0 issues.

Up to you though.
