K&N drop in filter question

First off Merry Christmas. I just became the owner of a 09 SS about a month ago and like most started off with the basic mod of purchasing a drop in K&N filter. I received the filter PN 33-2311 which apparently is the same for all motor sizes including the SS turbo according to the K&N website and from searching on this site.

I just pulled off the air box cover and compared the OEM filter and the K&N and they look slightly different. I attempted to put the K&N filter in and of course it looks as if it doesn't fit. Is there a filter that fits better or did you trim the rubber edges so it would fit. It appears you can trim the filter and it may fit.

Any help you can provide is appreciated. On a side note I've only driven the car for about a month and I'm sure glad I didn't end up with any other car. I've been throughly impressed.

Mine fit perfect! Same part no. too.

Make sure it's "flipped" the correct way. (Make sure the flaps face the correct way).

thanks guys. You were right just needed to flip it and turn. I feel like such an idiot. Guess I shouldn't have been in a rush this morning. Flaps need to be facing down and not up.

thanks again.

I didn't hear or feel any difference with the drop in filter. I bought it mostly for cost savings to avoid buying paper filters. I drive about 25K miles per year so the cost of paper filters add up fast.

drive down a back alley or a street with LOTS of MASSIVE trees on each side, it'll reflect the sound so u can hear it better, you will like it once u notice it

I can hear a little more "noise" from mine, but can't pinpoint it to turbo spool

You can hear the spool a little louder, but not much. If your going for spool and sound thats where an intake comes into play. But hey this is better than stock
