are K&N filters safe for the turbo

i have a f250 powerstroke people keep saying that no one should use K&N filters on them because it doesnt filter enough for the turbo is that true for the cobalts to cause i have one on my car so if there not safe id like to know to replace it

bullshit. A lot of us run K+N filters. I have for many years on many cars with no issues.

i am not expert but from reading around as long as u dont over oil them u should be fine

No the K&N filter is no good for the turbo. You should never put the filter inside the turbo.

X2, K&N intake system is one of the most popular mods for Turbo Cobalts.

You are correct, Mufinman, and over oiling is why many folks dont recommend a reuseable filter. Sometimes peformance is not as good with a fabric/oiled air filter compared to OEM paper element. Its something folks should test for themselves. Just look at fuel mileage over a month or so of driving and compare; the results should show up.

Some cars respond better than others to the K&N. Some folks want it for the increased air inlet noise value, especially on forced induction cars.
